Friandises = A variety of small sweets, preserved fruits, etc., served as petits fours or desserts.

Bottom right hand corner....Chocolate "Macaroons", light & airy, sweet, not bitter. Not so "napoleon" napoleon, dipped in chocolate.... :cloud9: Mystery Chocolate...(cause I can't remember), Where IS Cinderrella when you need her...or at least her Prince Charming!, finally an Apricot (?) Jelly....sweet, tangy, not too chew....perfecto! I personally love jelly sort of things so...mmmm...

Oh Course, in my defense....before Cinderella and her Price Charming came along....I'd be able to B.S. my way through things that I forgot...and no one would be worse for the wear......

Passion Fruit, Banana and Orange

OK....so first off?

Would anyone care to guess at what you are looking at?

:ssst: Psst....let me pass on a secret....:listen:

This beauty is going to be on the menu soon for all to try!

The plate was "painted" with a chocolate swatch....understated, mutted elegence!

Passion Fruit ....uhm....strong ....but probably so because I've never been much for passion fruit....The Banana ....smooth....yummy.....orange? Well, Orange and chocolate has got to be my favorite combination (especially is you pair it with a nice glass of Grand Marnier!)

Definitely worth the calories!:rotfl2:

DESSERTS .... 3 of 7
A long time ago, after DESSERTING our way through WDW, we realized that we had run the gammit on the entire WDW DESSERT menu. In preparation for last years' Birthday Celebration for Mister Disney, I asked Mark if there was something that could be done to come up with a new DESSERT!

Well, there's been PIXIE DUST all over our DESERRT plates ever since. :wizard: :wizard:

The pastry chef certainly went all out again this year. Yes, there was passion and fruit, even passion fruit. Does anyone realize how much time and effort goes into making each one of those DESSERTS?

That brown swatch of chocolate painted onto the plate is NOT the only stroke of brilliance here!

As you can see, Cinderella is not only aprincess: Beautiful Princess, princess: she's also becoming quite profiscient at bailing us out of some very embarassing situations. (Ahem ... NO Fairy Godmother comments please or I'll be running more than HUSBAND SCHOOL!)

It's not that we weren't paying attention, nor had the Ports gone to our heads (yet). It IS that we were and STILL ARE so overwhelmed at how much went into each and every one of these creations ... DESSERTS!

Those of you who remember previous posts about the Chef's Table at V&A's will recall how we went on and on ... and on and on ... about all the effort that goes into making a tiny pumpernickle chip. So we have total appreciation for the treasures created by the pastry chef at the Yachtsman!

It's at this point that we are not sure whether YUN told the kitchen to start using bigger plate or not, as she could no longer "cover" our dribbles on the fine linens.

Poor YUN ... in hindsight, Mister Disney, I think we should have bought YUN a Grand Marnier Flight ... at the beginning of the evening! :rotfl2:

OH CINDERELLA ... Don't go getting me in trouble with Chef Al! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Speaking of Chef Al ... has anyone noticed, how Cinderella has NEVER mentioned a WORD about needing HUSBAND SCHOOL for him? :lovestruc

So....while the K-Man continues to unabashedly promote his "Husband School", I would like ot explain something to you all.

If you will notice, I have added a quotation to my siggie.

"One can not think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well."

- Virginia Woolf (1882 - 1941)

Let me explain......

"One can not think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well."

- Virginia Woolf (1882 - 1941)

This quotation you will note if you go back to the beginning of this thread, was on te personalized menus that Mark Hoevenaars put together for this very very special evening.

While communicating with Mark over the years through emails, I have notice that on his email signature he had a quote:

"The art of dining well is no slight art, the pleasure not a slight pleasure."
~ Michel de Montaigne

I spoke to Mark about HOW true the words of Michel de Montaigne were and that so many people would miss it. He included this quotation on last years menus.

This year he included a new quote, the one I have entered into my siggie.

"One can not think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well."

- Virginia Woolf (1882 - 1941)

I have decided to claim this as my own, I do think well (most of the time :rotfl2: ), I try to love well, and lord knows, I sleep well.....and it IS a result of dining well!

DINING WELL, does not have to be expensive, it does not have to be fancy....DINING WELL involves more than the food, more than the atmosphere, it involves spending time enjoying food and fellowship with those you love...

:cloud9: I love you Mister Prior:cloud9:

K-Man I would never get you in trouble with Chef Al - he doesn't need husband school at all - he ALWAYS treats me like a princess:

Bob - That was not fair! I am NOT supposed to cry reading the dang RESTAURANT board! :sad2: What a sweet tribute.
While we aren't fancy diners (just edible, thanks) I totally agree that dining "well" is more about sharing the experience with people you love and enjoying yourself.

And for Kevin to love you more than DESSERT? That is a whomping honor coming from him!
