Worthwhile Universal Shows

Heading UO with my middle child for a three day trip in less than three weeks. We've both been to Universal a bunch of times over the last 13 years including a 2 day trip in 2020 and a one day quick one in 2021. So we've done Hagrid's and Velocicoaster and all the big rides. Looking forward to doing them again but want to make sure we don't miss some of the shows this time as we don't usually focus on those. What are some of the good shows we should catch? I'm aware of the horror makeup show as we've seen that many times and it's great and the Bourne show. What other shows are worthwhile for an adult and an 18 year old boy?

Since you said less than 3 weeks, you may be there at the end, but Cinesational at night is a must see. It ends on Aug 25 however due to HHN.

If you can catch the blues brothers that's always fun. I don't remember if the times are in the app or not. There's a few smaller shows in Hogsmeade. They sometimes have the hogwarts forever that is displayed on the castle that's good. I forget when they play though.

We're just missing the Cinsational and Hogwarts show as we're arriving on 8/26. Kind of dissapointed about that but we can't change our arrival.
The Raptor encounter is fun, if you consider that a show.
We've never done this one in all our trips so I do want to make a point to do this.

I'll have to look at some of the smaller Harry Potter shows. I figure we're there for about 2.5 days (arriving Monday morning) with express pass so we should have plenty of extra time for shows. And that last week in August isn't known to be very crowded, which is further corroborated by the signficant reduction in park hours.

A lot depends also on what your interests are. I went with my mom & her husband, and we watched the Blues Bros show 2x in 2 days (and I suspect he would have watched a 3rd time, if we were there a few hours longer). I'd never seen the show before. It was well done and entertaining, even for someone (me) who had no idea who the Blues Bros are. Studios definitely has the bigger share of the shows & street entertainment. There's a "street drumming" show called Beat Builders who are also good.

I like the Tales of Beedle the Bard in Diagon Alley - this is an excellent way to relax with a Florean Fortesque's ice cream. The other Harry Potter themed street shows I could take or leave, and I'm a big HP fan. (That's excluding the non-street shows, Ollivanders and the Nighttime Lights on Hogwarts, both of which are good shows.)

The nice thing with the street entertainment, is you don't need to carve out a big chunk of time. You can walk up right as they're starting (a few minutes before if you want to be right up front), or join in as you walk by and see they're happening, and if you aren't sufficiently entertained you can just wander off whenever. But even start to finish, it's like 15-20min out of your day.

I love Celestina Warbeck and her Banshees. They even change the show at Christmas. I also like Tales of Beedle the Bard as well. You can always take the time to enjoy the show and drink your Butterbeer or Pumpkin Juice and enjoy the show.

Marilyn Monroe has a cute show and if you are passing by check it out. There are a lot of fun entertainment just going on. I once saw a saxophone player at the entrance of Hogwarts Express. You can always check your Universal app or the signage at the entrance for the times of some of these.

We enjoyed the Animal Actors show. Very enjoyable. We never miss the Makeup Show or Bourne. We saw one show in HP land(don't remember which one, sorry) which was on an outside stage and had dancers with brooms. It was one of those things you see as you are touring the area and are lucky to catch it. I know there are many others, and I am interested in seeing what others have to say too:)

My son has always liked the Blues Brothers no matter what his age is. In fact, so did I!
