Why Doesn’t Disney Build Value or Moderate Resorts Anymore?

There is even talk about the possibility that Disney might convert more rooms at AKL to DVC at some point. They must be having trouble filling those rooms at sky high pricing.
I imagine so. For example, they used to fill those rooms with me for 2 weeks a year, but these days even the bounceback rate at AKL is sky-high. That plus LLs = staying at POFQ.

And I think Disney knows this. They know the ceiling is near. I still feel like the decline of the theming in the rooms could be because Disney is looking to off load the resorts division of the company in the future.

That's possible, but I also think tastes in hotel decor have changed. A lot of the highly-themed hotels in Las Vegas have also shifted to plain decor in the rooms.

Nah the rooms are now designed in a minimalist style. Which in simple terms means easier to clean / dust, just like the removal of the carpets in the rooms.

Disney still want's complete control of the Resort experience. They learned the hard way with what happened around Disneyland resort.

I can rent a DVC at a Deluxe Property for the same price as a Moderate that Disney sells.
I used to stay at the Value's but for a small amount of money extra I can stay at a deluxe instead by renting points.

Ya, I could be wrong. It all just makes me wonder.

We've thought of doing this but plans change and with a DVC rental that equals money down the drain.

We were at WDW two weeks ago and had to leave three days early when my sister got sick. FQ didn't charge us for the three nights we weren't there. With a DVC rental we would have had to pay for those three nights.

That was good of Disney to not charge you for those nights.👍

The reason why Disney no longer is showing interest in building more new resorts is because they now want to focus on "as many posters have mentioned in this thread" DVC and I truly think that Disney thinks that building more DVC resorts will make them a GIGANTIC profit for them and ever since the failure of Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Disney has lost hope in developing new resorts and instead want to design something better to gain more visitors to their resorts which is the DVC resorts. Prior to launching the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Disney had added the Gran Destino Tower to Coronado Springs Resort and then way before that they added the Kidani Village area to Animal Kingdom Lodge just for DVC members and once those resort add-ons were built people started coming and once Grand Destino Tower opened at Coronado Springs Resort it became known as the expensive tower of the resort. But I think the problem was that rather than building new resorts Disney put some of that money into renovations of their resorts such as the Grand Floridian Resort Boardwalk Inn Port Orleans Resorts and others Disney learned how to give their resorts a fresh new look and they continued with Caribbean Beach Resort by giving the rooms a Finding Dory theme and the Port Orleans Resorts a The Princess And The Frog theme and Royal Princess themed rooms and that paid off and that made those resorts rooms go higher in price because people for some reason like themed hotels since they are very big in Nevada in Reno and Las Vegas and Disney wanted to copy that travel trend. Who knows maybe someday Disney will create their own version of the popular Great Wolf Lodge chain in the future don't you think?
