Why does Disneyland consider kids 10 and over adults and do you think they should lower the age to be an adult 16?

Should Disneyland consider changing the age from 10 to 16 for older kids?

I'm fine with it for ticket prices (even though my 11 year old doesn't go on any of the "big" rides.)

But I wish the age was higher for buffets. We've never done one simply because I can't rationalize the cost when my kid will eat barely anything offered.

The place that really gets me with this is sit down restaurants that force 11yr olds to order off the adult menu…. I’m looking at you Napa Rose…

Yeah, I need to get a list of places that do this so I know where to avoid! Partly because I sometimes order the kids menu items for myself at quick service. Ha!

DL and WDW are making a killing off the buffets with a 10-year-old being an adult. This is one of the main reasons they will not back down from the age policy.

For most people, they consume the most calories during their lives while they’re going through puberty. I have seen plenty of children gorge at the buffets. Many families will cut meals and snacks when they go to a buffet, so the kids would eat more food than they otherwise would.

We use to go to Mesquite NV a lot for outdoorsy things and would stay at a local casino. The buffet was (and still is) super cheap. Food was decent and families are welcome. I remember when a local soccer team of 11yo came in and absolutely vaporized the food.

Seniors are more deserving of a discount IMO than 10-17.

At the very least, age 12 would be more appropriate. But yes, seniors should receive a discount as well.

Both my kids (age 9 and 12) eat more than me on a typical day. However, they don't know how to gorge themselves like I do at buffets lol. They'll eat until they're normal full and stop and want a snack/meal like normal 2-3 hours later. I on the other hand, eat nothing all day until the buffet, and can out eat them in that case. Buffets are never equal no matter the age, so much goes into how much someone can or will eat other than age.

Do you know if there is a list of places like this at DL? My son will be 10 soon and generally has zero interest in the adult menu, especially because he's also gluten free so that limits the adult menu even more.

Napa Rose is the only place so far that was very adamant about it.
