Why does 3 Musketeers have 2 ingredients?

Milky Way and 3 Musketeers - two of MNSSHP’s favorite offerings. As I continue snacking on party goodies something keeps occurring to me. Milky Way is a better description for what 3 Musketeers holds, one big fluffy chocolate-milky nugget inside. 3 Musketeers is a better name for Milky Way which is really just a 3 Musketeers with a third ingredient: caramel. As it stands, one musketeer is not being represented in the 3 Musketeers.

I would‘ve let this concern pass, but I brought home 16.5lbs of party candy so we’ll likely be eating it well into 2024. Would’ve been 25lbs, but I gave a huge bag away after asking a random Dad on the ferry if it was OK to give his child. We attended Oct 30 party and at the very end of the night 5 CMs were goofing around with DH and I. He went into the treat trail solo first and they filled his little party bag to the top. I returned on DH’s scooter while he was in the restroom about 5 minutes later joking that DH said this was THEE trail to hit. They proceeded to fill the ENTIRE front ECV basket with candy, then CM #5 came over with a large shopping bag of candy and loaded it on top. Major Shout Out to these CMs LOL, it was beyond hilarious! I imagine only possible because they knew there was too much candy left for just one last party night. Needless to say, we still have alot of candy and I’ll be thinking why 3 Musketeers for a long time to come. I’m trying to give away here and there but not finding it easy. Any cool holiday recipes out there for Twix, Milky Way or 3M cookies?

LOL, I love these candy bars and wouldn’t rename them, as their history goes back 100 years.

FYI, the Mars candy company introduced Milky Way in the early 1920’s. It was created as a candy bar form of a malted milkshake, which gave it its name (not the galaxy). After Milky Way became popular, they created a version with peanuts, named Snickers, after the Mars family horse. Then came the Three Musketeers bar. The name referenced the book characters, however no connection to the number of ingredients, but rather the fact that the original Three Musketeers contained 3 pieces wrapped together, each with a different flavor nougat: chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. (Over time, they dropped all but the chocolate nougat filling.)

Now here’s what’s kind of mind-boggling... The candy bar that is called a Three Musketeers in the United States, is called a Milky Way in the UK and other countries. The candy bar that is called a Milky Way in the US is called a Mars bar in the UK and other countries. (The American Mars bar, that was yet another variation, has been discontinued in the US.)

Sorry, I have no recipes for you. If I had a large amount of candy, I would freeze some of it and ration it out over time.

What a fun story!
I've seen bits of candy in ice cream, cookies and brownies so over time maybe you can chop them up and add to lots of things to make them more fun too! The cookies can go into a trifle, see Pea-n-me's thread

Mars bar was my #1 favorite! Almonds and nougat, yum

I’m guessing that the Snickers Almond is very similar to the old Mars bar.

It is close! Not quite though. Mars almonds had a really fresh flavor and different nougat, no caramel. Enough difference that it’s not enjoyable enough to waste my calories
