I cannot believe I made such a foolish mistake...can anyone help me please???

I had a dressy white tank top with black flowers on the border with sequences..the white top is now pink

Can anyone help me turn it back to white and keep my black flowers as black :confused3 ?

ANY help would be appreciated..as you can tell I am now in panic mode.

Thanks in advance
Vivian

try rewashing it in oxyclean. It may take more than one washing to get it all out but most of the time it works with just one.

I second the oxyclean, but then what I do is run it in the wash a 2nd time before I dry it and throw in one of those Color Catcher sheets and it will usually absorb any remaining pink.

Thank You both...I believe we have the Oxiclean in Canada..sorry is there a name for the colour catching sheets.

One more silly question should I wash this prior to allowing the clothes to dry? Or can I do this tomorrow?

So sorry for all the questions.

Thanks again
Vivian

I'd keep the top damp, even if it means sticking it in a ziploc bag for tonight.

When you get the oxiclean, add enough of it to a bucket and soak your shirt, even overnight, and then wash it. I've been successful in cleaning up a whole load of newly pink laundry back to white with this method. If it doesn't work the first time, repeat again with an oxy soak and wash.

Well, don't put them in a dryer, but not sure if hang drying would affect them or not. I don't think so cause I think I've let them sit overnight before, but not 100% sure. The color catching sheets are made by a couple of different companies-I think Shout and Woolite. And I think the actual name is Color Catchers.

I agree about soaking in Oxyclean, but I have had it eat holes in some stuff if it soaked too long so be careful how long you do it.

Thanks so much....I hopefully will have a white top once again tomorrow.

Have a gr8 weekend,
V

Thanks for asking......you must be hearing my moans all th way there ;) Well the truth is.........Not so good!

I have soaked it in Oxyclean 3 times and in fact it is back in there.

I have also soaked it in javex, twice (once overnight...better but still a little pink.)

So this is my last try.....

I wore it once...received any compliments and now I am desperately tring to bring it back to a normal state. I have my fingers crossed that this last time will be the winner.

In reality it is substantially much better than when I started off! It was completely pink and now there is a trace of it.

I can't thank you enough for your help.....

I have learned my lesson to be careful in what I am dropping in the washing machine and not to be distracted when dong so.

Lots of silly drama over a shirt!

Have a gr8 Sunday!

Have you tried Greased Lightening???? Not to hijack your thread, but here's my yesterdays laundry story. I washed a load of darks and when I took them out of the dryer, I found that I had left an ink pen in one of the pockets. Yes, it leaked. The only clothing that I was worried about was DH's work shirts, light blue in color. I sprayed Greased Lightening on them and rewashed them on the heavy duty cycle in hot water with about 1/2 cup of Greased Lightening added with the detergent. It all came out. I was quite impressed. Especially since I had already dried the clothes. I ALWAYS keep Greased Lightening on hand. After all, it saved my life  . And no, I didn't tell DH. He would never let me live it down!

Rit makes a color remover that I have used many times. (you can do the process in your washer.) Sometimes it changes things you don't want changed and sometimes it doesn't (black flowers) In the grocery stores here, it is with the Rit dyes.

Thanks all!!

I now know to look out for both Greased Lightening as well as Rit.

The shirt has a slight colour tint to it now. No more soaking and washing. I have salvaged it the best that I was able!

Next time I will be on the look out for colour culprits prior to making my whites become another funky colour.

wdwmom2..good choice not to tell hubby..they always have ways of remaining you of the incident at the most uncomfortable settings!

Thanks again,
Vivian

I have a basket in the laundry room where I throw all my reds until I get enough for a load. Saves a lot of hassles. If it is red it goes in there. Also be careful of the indian guazy type dresses because their dyes aren't colorfast.
