Anyone know if one of the sitcoms they show on the TVs at the 50s Prime Time Cafe is "The Honeymooners"? That is my all-time favorite show (even though I was born in 1977!!), and we are planning to have lunch there on our July trip. I am curious if this is one of the sitcoms they show!

Which sitcoms have you seen there?

Can't remember if the Honeymooners is one. I remember seeing The Dick Van **** Show, The Donna Reed Show and the Mickey Mouse Club with a very young Annette Funichello. There are more, just can't remember them all.

What an interesting question! I haven't eaten there so I can't help you out but am interested to hear the answer.

I think Topper is one -- he was a ghost if I'm recalling correctly.

Father Knows Best I think, Donna Reed Show, Mickey Mouse Club, I think there was a clip from Car 54, Where Are You?

Never saw the Honeymooners on that loop.

I don't remember seing the Honeymooners on the TV but they were only 3-4 minute clips of 1950 shows (Hey, Disney probably beat YouTube to the format and didn't know it!!!)

As I recall, some of the shows were as follows:

Father Knows Best
The Donna Reed Show
The Mickey Mouse Club (and some western serial...Spin and Marty?)
Car 54, Where Are You?
Dennis the Menace
I Married Joan
The Dick VanDyke Show
The Real McCoys
Topper

I think you covered it all. 50's PTC and Sci-Fi are the same concept - a loop of highlights. We had a lot of fun watching the clips, but it's disappointing when they're over! I wanted to see the whole thing.

There are a couple of Honeymooner clips. I believe chef of the future and when Ralph is trying to sell dog food as an appetizer are shown.

Did you really bleep out his last name? :lmao::lmao:

I only noticed Car 54 and Donna Reed show, saw a few others that I didn't recognize. PT food was awesome but I was VERY disappointed in the seating arrangments. Be warned there are NOT TV's at ever table and some are not even close to a TV so you may not be able to see that well. We were in table (not cozy kitchen one) sandwiched between two other tables, we didn't have our 'own kitchen' area or TV. We will return for the food but I feel kinda ripped off on the atmosphere experience there.

"Oh yes it can core a apple"
" Say, that's dogfood!"

OMG, the Chef of the Future episode is my favorite one!!! The "Handy Housewife Helper!" "Richard the chicken-hearted"!!!!! "Can it core a apple?" (I guess the PP answered that one for me! ;))

The dog food one is awesome too! "Krammar's delicious mystery appetizer"!!!!
:rotfl:

I hope they have Honeymooners clips when we are there. Could we request a table by a TV or in the kitchen area? We would wait for one if we had to!

Bangzoom6877, I believe that if you are willing to wait for the table that you want, they will try their best to accomodate you. I have never eaten at PTC but it might be worth your while to note your preference right on your ADR.

Thank you! I was planning to do this right on the ADR but we are also willing to wait a little bit for a table if necessary. My kids are pretty patient if the wait is not too long. We will also show up early for our ADR, which is what we always do anyway.

Did you really bleep out his last name? :lmao::lmao:

I think the computer does this automatically so we don't say inappropriate things on a family board. Sometimes it removes what is meant as nothing harmless just because it looks like something wrong. The abbreviation for All Star Sports gets bleeped a lot unless you abbreviate it ASSp. :goodvibes

Bonnie it looks like you'll enjoy your PTC lunch more now that they have your favorite show!

My dad showed me an old VHS recording of this episode, and the next day I went out and bought the whole series on DVD - it's fantastic, and this episode is hilarious!! :lmao:

My Dad is the one who got my sister and me into the Honeymooners! When we were kids, they used to show it on a local station, but at 11:30 at night, so we were too young to stay up and watch it. He used to record it for us once we had a VCR (I was about 6 years old, this was when VCRs were first popular and were extremely expensive!!). The first episode I ever saw was the one when Norton was sleepwalking. My sister and I fell in love with the show right away.

It's funny, because we always hated black and white shows when we were little, and we were both hesitant at watching the Honeymooners when my dad first wanted to show it to us, and then we got hooked! Glad he made us watch it!

LOL, I sometimes have the urge to make spaghetti, lima beans, mashed potatoes and hot dogs for dinner! Just kidding of course!!!! :rotfl:

Nope. The quoted poster misspelled Dick vanDyke's last name :rotfl2: using an "i" in place of the "y" - and the board's software 'bleeped' it!

Well, it turns out no, he didn't misspell it - apparently any version of that word on its own gets 'bleeped'!!!!
