I've never had it at a restaurant and don't want to embarrass myself. :teeth:

Similar to an artichoke. I hope I explain this well enough, Hold onto the end of the pod, put the length of it in your mouth and while pulling it back out use your teeth to scrape out the beans. They're yummy and good for you, can't beat that :cool1: .

Uh-oh--I think I ate that the other night at a banquet, but I ate the whole thing.

It was still good.

We had them at Teppanyaki in Epcot-we opened them like a pea pod and ate the "beans"-was that proper??? Probably not-but no one yelled at us!!!

Edamame? Isn't that what Lucy got drunk on while filming the commerical?

You can eat the pod and all. They are really good with some melted butter and a bit of salt. I also buy them out of the pods and DD and I love to pop them in our mouth for a snack. They are good in salads also. Very good for you :thumbsup2

I tried one like that, but it was a little tough and stringy (and fuzzy).

It's been a long day, I have had a bunch of noisy preteen girls running in and out of my house :teeth: O.k. in the pod is sugar snap pea pods, so never mind what I said about eating the edamame (soy bean) pod, your right it is stingy and fuzzy and you need to take the beans out of it ;) But the soy beans still do make a great snack, and are good in salads, just out of the pods ;) :teeth:

Yes - this is the "correct" way to eat edamame.
