Yes I know it is a fish but I have never really seen it on a menu. I'm not really a fish person but do like salmon, shrimp, filet of sole. I have tried a swordfish steak once and enjoyed it. So waht kind of fish is grouper most like?

I am not a Fish eater fan but had tried Grouper in the bahamas and I thought it was gross. The actual fish is huge (while swimming in tanks) but I wouldnt recommend it...
Stick w/ what ya know

Grouper is delicious. It is thicker than sole or flounder, more like halibut in thickness and texture, but a very mild flavor. Tastes similar to sole. It is very mild, so the taste of the dish depends very much on its preparation/accompaniments. Looking at fish/seafood that you have tried and liked, I would expect you would like grouper.

PS - The wilted spinach grouper special they make at Wolfgang Puck is awesome! We just had it the other day--yum!

Hi 3DisneyBuggs! :wave2:

Grouper is a mild-tasting fish (not too fishy!), with a firm texture (kind of like a swordfish steak) that can be grilled. It doesn't taste anything like swordfish, though. I've heard it compared to red snapper before if that helps at all. :confused3

I ordered at WCC & it was good, just not the best fish I've ever eaten. My fave is halibut! :)

Grouper is most similar to Cod, it is in the same family. It is a white fleshed fish that has a mild flavor. It is usually fileted, so it is boneless. Try it, you will probally like it.

It reminds me a lot of red snapper, but run away from any grouper that has been frozen! It's just not the same.

I really like it - and I just had the black grouper at the California Grill last week. Ah, bliss.

The reason grouper is on the menu a lot at WDW is that it is a commonly found fish in the waters off of southern Florida (I lived in Tampa for a time and it was the most commonly served fish in restaurants there too). If you are really interested, google "Grouper" and you can find out all about it.

Grouper is my very favorite fish, and I live on the Gulf Coast, where we eat alot of seafood. It's very firm and not fishy. If you can get it fried, you won't be disappointed. Try it, it may become your favorite too.

I have ate Grouper cooked several different ways and it is a delicious fish. I think you will like it. It's a mild white fish and delicious.

I've been eyeing that up on the menu :magnify: ...I'm glad you liked it!

And - in my old stomping grounds, the Florida Panhandle, you'll find fried grouper sandwiches and grouper fingers!

Deep fry anything and I'm all over it. :teeth:

Grouper is great. I went fishing in Cabo San Lucas and caught a Leopard Grouper. We had it fileted and took it to a resturant in the harbor. Had half of it fried for fish tacos and the other half grilled. One of the best meals I have ever had. Of course from the time I caought it to the time we ate it was about 4 hours.

I love Grouper..it's my favorite fish as well. Very mild, it's great grilled, sauteed, fried...well, just about any way.

What always amuses me is that the majority of people eat tuna...out of a can. Which is perfectly fine! I myself don't eat it (my mother hates it and told me when I was growing up that it was cat food---and after serving my cats fancy feast, I realize it...blech). This is probably the "fishiest" fish you can find, yet these same people tell me at dinner they don't like fish at restaurants because it's too fishy :confused3 ...but cold scraps of smelly fish is good?? Flame away.

My very favorite dish is Grouper stuffed with crab. That was the first grouper dish I ever had. Don't think I've seen that at WDW however.
Grouper is very mild, not fishy tasting at all. It's not generally available here in central PA, so I anxiously await my trips to Florida to indulge.

I don't care for fishy fish! I am not a big fan of salmon or tuna steak. I like Grouper which reminds me of haddock and cod. I will also eat sole. A fried grouper sandwich is YUMMY!

Anywhere near Panama City? Have you ever had grouper cheeks? They are so good. My mom works for a seafood supplier and she gets them all the time. They are the actual cheeks of a grouper. They are mildly sweet and oh, so good!
