What happened to the figurines?

This was the first trip in almost 25 years I could not find a single figurine anywhere. I always collected them, and I have curios full of them. When did WDW stop carrying them? They had them on our last trip a couple years ago. I promised a friend I would bring her a Mulan figurine for her daughter. I searched every nook and cranny of China at WS and couldn't find one.

Are you talking about the ceramic/porcelain Disney character figurines? We saw quite a lot at the Art of Disney in Epcot as well as the Animation Gallery at DHS.

I have quite a few that I have collected since I was a kid from both Disneyland and Disney World...I have all of the princesses (pre-2008) and their princes among various others. I bought a good amount in 2008 but when I returned in 2011...other than the UBER expensive or really big ones, there weren't any!

It seems that as far as collectible figures go, Disney markets their Vinylmation stuff. My opinion is probably an unpopular one but I think they're UGLY. Bring back my glass figurines!

If you are talking about the Walt Disney Classics Collection porcelain figurines, they are no longer being sold at this stage. Disney had stopped ordering them a while ago and eventually Enesco (the manufacturer) stopped producing them. They've now been licensed to the Precious Moments makers who will be releasing images of their new WDCC in a month or so. They had tried a WDCC line previously but it was so awful and the backlash from collectors so intense they had to scrap the line and start from scratch. So at the moment, there's nothing but we will wait to see if Disney parks stock the new line.

Disney have also seemed to come to the conclusion they make more money by selling rubbish things rather than actually nice items.

I was looking forward to collecting them after my mum and sister had bought me a few different figurines from their visit to Disneyland. I looked all over WDW last year and couldn't find any

I don't really understand the fascination with any of the vinylmation series, they are pretty much all ugly and don't really look like anything :confused.

Disney please bring back figurines!!!

You are far from the only person that thinks Vinylmation is ugly. Blech.

I think they may have shifted focus to Christmas ornaments vs figurines. They have tons of those. There is a Mulan ornament online in the Disneystore.com.

I wonder if it just got to be too expensive with breakage etc.? Don't know.

I don't like the Vinylmations either. Weird and ugly.

I agree that I do not understand the vinylmations. I tried to get into them this past trip (since I had nothing else to collect), and I couldn't bring myself to buy one. So, I bought some Duffy stuff. I'm not a stuffed bear person, but I like having something I can collect on trips. I think i'll start collecting outfits... not really inline with my personality, but my Duffy is sitting next to me on my bed a I type this so it might be something I can get into.

I do like the Precious Moments, and started collecting those when they started appearing in the parks. But, I collect them anyway so they aren't uniquely Disney to me.

Count me in as another who misses these figurines! I used to buy a couple on every visit. I did see some once at a Disneyana (sp?) meet once but they were the ones I already had. But the fun of it was collecting them at Disney!
