I was thinking I would like to make a garbage bread for the Super Bowl. It's one of my favorite things. :thumbsup2
So... tell me what you put in yours. I'm looking to expand my Garbage Bread.

TIA!

Never heard of it, but anything with the word "bread" in it piques my interest!

Go on....

REALLY??? Maybe you call it something else...

Pizza dough with pepperoni, salami, provolone... all rolled up in it.

I didn't say it was 'good' for you just GOOD!!! :cool1:

I've never heard of garbage bread either. Must be a regional thing. :confused3

I used to get those from a sub shop, they called them pepperoni rolls. Those were made with just pepperoni and cheese. The other ingredients-they didn't make them that way, but they sound yummy!

I made that for dinner last weeked. I called it stromboli but garbage bread is a more fitting name. I made the pizza dough in my breadmaker and filled it with salami, smoked ham, pepperoni and smoked provolone cheese. I also took some olives, roasted red peppers and a few cloves of garlic and threw them in the food processor and spread it over the meat before I rolled it up. It turned out really good.

OMG, you are making my stomach GROWL!!

I want garbage bread, NOW!

Wow! I can't believe there are places without Garbage Bread!! :sad2:
I didn't know how lucky I was. ;)

I'm thinking I might try to add some peppers, onions, maybe artichoke hearts...
I'll stuff it as much as I can!!!

It's a stromboli.

From wikipedia:

Stromboli is a type of turnover filled with various cheeses, Italian meats or vegetables. The dough is Italian bread dough.

Stromboli are similar to but distinct from calzones, as calzones are pockets of dough filled with meat, cheese and vegetables, and stromboli can contain the same ingredients but are rolled into an oblong loaf (similar to a burrito) and sliced to serve. The common misconception is that ingredients are the primary difference between calzones and strombolis: many people mistakenly think calzones have ricotta or marinara and stromboli does not. In truth, the ingredients for both calzones and strombolis are at the discretion of the chef

I've never heard of this either. But it sure sounds yummy. :cool1:

MMMM....stromboli.....I LOVE THEM...but never heard it called garbage bread...:confused3

I also LOVE stromboli, and never heard it called garbage bread, either. :)

They can be made with any pizza toppings. I like veggie stromboli with marinara, spinach, broccoli and cheese.

A pepperoni roll is not stromboli and it is not garbage bread. It is a pepperoni roll. (I really miss pepperoni rolls. :( )

Sorry but this recipe sounds a lot like the recipe for garbage bread. Just called something different.

PEPPERONI ROLL

1 pkg. Pillsbury hot roll mix
1/3 lb. baked ham
1/3 lb. pepperoni
1/3 lb. salami
1/3 lb. Provolone cheese
1/3 lb. Mozzarella cheese
1 egg
Grated Parmesan cheese
Garlic salt

Follow package directions for pizza dough on hot roll mix box. Divide dough in half. Roll out one half of dough and pat into bottom of 13 x 9 inch greased pan. Layer the following, ham, Provolone, pepperoni, Mozzarella and salami. Roll out second half of dough and pat over meat and cheese to cover top of baking pan. Brush beaten egg on top crust and prick with fork. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and garlic salts. Follow baking directions for pizza on roll box until golden brown. Cut into desired size squares or slices when cool.

Garbage bread? Never heard of it. If it's stromboli you're talking about (in some foreign language, of course), we do like it with ham, salami and cheese, but it hardly deserves a name like garbage bread.

A pepperoni roll is pepperoni (and cheese if desired) rolled up into bread dough and baked. It comes out looking like a roll.

A real pepperoni roll!

The local pizza joint makes pepperoni rollups...which is dough, lots of mozzerala cheese, and pepperoni...all rolled up, baked, and served with dipping marinara.

I do not call it garbage bread either...but I make two for our family. The usual pepperoni and mozz. and I also make a sausage one that is delicious.

Saute red pepper and an onion, set aside.
Cook one pound sausage meat, out of the casing. drain and mix with pepper & onion to cool.
Once cooled add a beaten egg and shredded mozz/provelone blend.

Place on dough and roll. Bake till golden brown. Enjoy!!!
