What do you like to do on the day you travel home?

pay for an extra day just so you use the pool on your last day.
FYI you’re considered a guest at a Disney resort until midnight on checkout day, so you can use the pool and all other hotel facilities even after vacating your room. Some guests pay for an extra day so that they can use their room until they’re ready to leave WDW, instead of having to vacate the room by 11 AM.

We mostly had APs on our trips. Checkout morning depended on how tired we were , if we'd been rope dropping a lot. Sometimes that was our only morning to sleep in, sometimes we'd make one more run to Epcot, maybe for festival food, or last couple times, if we got a VQ for Guardians, but just as often, we're just hitting the road. We drive though, so that's a whole different experience. if no park tickets, we'd probably go to Disney Springs for a while.

Normally I like to take the early flight out so I can just dip and head home. This trip that just ended by flight was at 835pm and I decided to just Uber it instead of Mears.

I woke up and headed to Animal Kingdom. Got LL for the 4 rides I wanted to ride. Rope dropped Flight of Passage, did the Safari and headed to Everest. Rode that 6 times followed by Dinosaur (I really hope the new version is less rough, I don't remember Indy at DL being that rough). Did my LL for FoP and Navi River Journey. Went to Nomad for a couple pre-noon drinks. Tusker House for lunch and headed back to the hotel to relax and wish I still had a hotel room to take a nap in.

With a mid-afternoon flight or later, I tend to get a latest-possible breakfast ADR somewhere. Then I sleep in, load my bags in the rental car, and head off to breakfast. I will linger in the lobby after brunch and people watch, heading to the airport with plenty of time to hang out in one of the lounges.

This gives me a low-key way to re-enter the real world.
This is what we tend to do as well. It's a great way to end a trip!

My flights are usually around 6pm and not much choice in that flying back to the UK. I like to feel fresh for the long flight so I don’t do much in travel home day, I usually just book a nice lunch somewhere and then head to the airport after that.

My return flight often leaves too early for me to do anything but finish packing, have breakfast, and get to the airport. A flight last year left so early that I didn't even have time for breakfast.

But my return flight this trip is (so far) scheduled to leave in the evening. Hurrah! I'm going to hit at least one park, maybe two, on getaway day. My sister's flight leaves earlier, so I'll be solo that day.

I'm taking Mears Connect back to MCO, and they'll probably pick me up at least 3 hours before the flight. I'll leave whatever park I'm in 90 minutes before that, sometime between 3:30 and 4:00 pm, get my bags from bell services, and wait for the bus.

I'm very glad bounceback has returned. This way I know we'll be here again soon!

Our flight doesn’t leave until 9:55 pm, so we are going to have breakfast at Topilino’s, go to Disney Springs, then have a late lunch (2:55) at Sanaa and just explore other resorts if we have time before our pickup time.

I always book late flights back and spend nearly a full day in the park of my choice. My flight home from this next trip will get me into my home airport slightly after midnight.

In the past I've always made a late ADR for breakfast (usually at whichever resort I can get by booking the night beforehand) in the Epcot resort area, since I stay at BCV. Get up, pack, maybe sit on my balcony for a while, after breakfast I either spend a little time on the Boardwalk or sit in the Solarium (depending on the weather). Next time I'll have an AP, so I'm thinking of having my last breakfast at Le Halles, sitting outside by the fountain.

I either was driving home which means I left Kissimmee around 6am or had an early morning flight out of MCO so my final day always started early.

Thank you for that clarification

I’ve had the same issue with late flights! On check-out day, I usually check out early and spend a few hours at Disney Springs or hang around one of the resorts, especially if I’m not in a rush. I find it a good way to enjoy the last bit of Disney without feeling too stressed. I typically aim to leave for the airport about 3 hours before my flight just to be safe—plenty of time to get there, even with traffic. It’s a nice way to make the most of the day without feeling super rushed.

I usually hit Disney Springs early for some lunch and treats, and any ladt-minute shopping. I usually call a car from DS to the Airport, but I travel light. I once even did a water park on my departure day - just used the changing rooms there and didn't go back to the resort at all.

We've varied our approach--for instance, in February we're flying out first thing. On our last trip, we had a slow morning and breakfast, and then checked out.

But my favorite last day was in January 2020--so this was with Magical Express as our transportation. Our ME departure time from the resort was around 2pm, and we hit 3 parks that morning. We first rope-dropped HS and grabbed an early VQ for RotR. We then park hopped to AK to ride FoP (with a scheduled FP in the old system). Then, we took the bus to MK and rode HM, did a bit of shopping, and then had Casey's for lunch. Was a wild whirlwind of a time--but it is still one of our favorite travel days.

We go to a park for the morning, ride what we want, eat a nice lunch and leave to head back home. For us, it is usually HS for the park.

the last time we had a late flight (like 6:40pm), we slept in a bit, went to Boma for late breakfast, checked out and then went to the Theater for a movie. I think we saw the Planet of the Apes near the Orlando convention center. I believe this was our trip in May of this year.

I wish we had this issue! Unfortunately we had to be on an 8am flight, so we'll literally just be rushing off as soon as our alarm goes off.

If we had a later flight, I'd be getting an ADR for a late breakfast, preferably a character breakfast, to get one last Disney hit before heading to the airport with plenty of time before the flight.

We've been on POTC 2.5 hours before our flight multiple times but I like to push my luck. Never missed a flight.

Right now what I'd like to do is have my plane be on time instead of 3 hours late! I already feel like I've been at MCO for forever.
