We are renting DVD points and would like to purchase Memory Maker

We have rented points off a DVD owner for our December trip to the Beach Club Villas. I have already set up my MDE account and linked our reservation, tickets and ADR. I would like to purchase Memory Maker in advance and link it to MDE account. A couple questions:

1. I have a $200 gift card. Can I use that to purchase memory maker. If so, what will happen to the $31 balance remaining on the gift card? Will that stay as a credit on MDE account? Will I lose that amount?

2. I read somewhere that as a renter, I cannot purchase the memory maker myself. Is it like the Disney Express and Dining Plan that I have to have the owner purchase it for me? If so, I will contact him.

I would love to hear from anyone who has had experience with Memory Maker and renting points.

If you don't use the full amount on the GC it will keep the remaining balance on it so you want to keep it and use it where you can.

Memory Maker does not have to be booked thru DVC member service. You should be able to do that yourself.

Memory Maker is in no way connected to a resort reservation. Anyone (with or without a room reservation) can purchase Memory Maker.

You can purchase it yourself using My Disney Experience.

We just returned this week and used memory maker for the 1st time.......the 7 of us all loved it. I linked it to everyone's magic bands. my 2 dgd's age 13 and 15 used it when they were out and about on their own.....we got lots of group shots.......Some of the photographers were really fun to work with, suggesting special poses so they could add a little "magic" later. We even had a couple little videos thrown in...but I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise you may have when you get your email once home. we left Tuesday and got the email Friday.
