Waist pack or sling bag?

I am trying to decide what kind of bag to carry into the parks to tote along the necessities. What would you suggest? A smaller "fanny" or waist pack, or a larger sling bag or backpack?

I prefer the bookbag approach. I use a lightweight bookbag that goes over one shoulder, across my chest, and then down by the opposite hip. The actual bag looks almost triangular shaped. I find that I can fit more in it comfortably. I usually carry around cameras, ponchos, snacks, bottles of water, sun block, towel (small), hats, and many other small things. I find they all fit nicely and aren't too heavy. I usually have space for additional stuff should I feel the need to buy it. I just never liked having a "fanny" pack. I didn't like it bouncing around my waist all day and it always seemed like I had one more item than I had room for.

I second the 'one shoulder sling bag'. Went we took our 2004 trip I had just picked up one from the disneystore.com site on clearance for $7! it came in so handy and it was ''easy" (read 'not girly') for DH to carry around. The deal was so good i regret not buying another - it was all black with the classic mickey log on it (mickey face with the red circle border). we threw everything in there - including camera's!

I even dug it out for our trip earlier this year and will most likey use it on our next WDW trip!

It really depends on how much "stuff" you need to carry and if anyone else is carrying their own bag. In the summer, I prefer the waist pack because I don't carry too much and it's not hot sitting across your back. In the fall or winter, where you might need to carry a sweatshirt or smething, I have a sling bag that I got at WDW. It's a smaller sized one and is the perfect size for a sweatshirt, camera, etc. If you're only going to have one bag between everyone, then get a sling back bag.

I use a sling bag that goes over one shoulder, across the chest, and hangs on the opposite side. I used to do the fanny pack but was uncomfortable sitting, standing, sitting, standing with it on (not to mention I certainly don't need to draw extra attention to my mid-section). I then went to a backpack but got tired of having to take it off everytime I needed to get something out of it. The bag I use now is perfect. I bought it at Sears several years ago. It has one big pocket (not too big...the bag is only about 9 inches long by 6 inches tall) and several smaller pockets. All pockets secure either with a zipper or velcro so I don't worry about my items falling out.

My DS will be 2 when we go. I don't want to carry a diaper bag and don't really like backpacks. What about a sling bag for baby stuff in addition to our things too (cameras, etc.). Does it hold enough? And what about when you sit on a ride, can you keep it on? That is one reason I don't want a backpack. Thanks :flower:

I use a sling bag because it hold a lot more. My bellybag always broke by the last day because I was trying to stuff too much in it.

Only 16 more days! I am so excited :cool1: :Pinkbounc :lovestruc :bounce:  :jumping1: :jumping1: :disrocks: :thewave: :thewave:

Since i only go during the warmer weather, i find that shorts with lots of pockets fit my needs

When i went to DL at the end of last year the backpack was fantastic for carrying all the souven'ears' that i bought for all and sundry back home....

DH had the fanny pack and I had a great LLBean stadium Back pack. It came w/ a cooler part inside too.

I used the Baggallini messenger bag which is really a small sling bag. I loved it. It has lots of pockets and was super comfortable. There was a place for my waterbottle and my cell phone (my cell phone didnt fit in the front compartment but on the side). The best part was that I never had to take it off to dig into it, I just slid it around to the side of my body. I got mine off of ebags.com with the mousesavers link but they have the black ones on ebay. They come in a ton of colors too!
