VDH Opening

Bought my Magic Key Pass. Bring on VDH.

I’d love a DVC magic key at Disneyland. Would be a great way to hype up the program and get people interested. Make it the same price as the believe key but perhaps a few less blocked days and some perk that aligns with DVC (free parking?). Call it the Welcome Home Key?

Guilty. It’s the main reason I’d want points at VDH. Plan ahead and bank and borrow. Likely for special family events. The 2BR look great but I’d rather be at VGC for the most part.

Magic Key…? Also longer stays allow for more flexibility in how you attack the parks. Take breaks and relax and hit the pool or spa. Makes it so much better when you end your trip relaxed and not tired.
Yeah, we always stay at least 5 nights. 6 is the sweet spot for me. Enjoy the resort, the pool, sometimes the spa. Maybe one rope drop otherwise just take it easy. Makes things far more enjoyable. Sure, you can do "everything" in a day or 2, but that's a stressful couple of days. I like to come home relaxed.

Same. We take an evening flight down after the kids get off school and stay for a total of 6-nights.

Mornings in park until lunch reservation, pool/spa/relax/nap until dinner reservation, DCA until close, DL until close. 70% of attractions in first 2 and last 2 hours of the day with minimal wait.

First two days we go hard in the paint, last 3 days are very chill and selective. More likely to do animation studio, etc.

You know we're angling for 300 points too. But likely for lots of smaller trips. I can only dream of some GV trips in the mix.

We'll run into each other on a trip at some point in the future I'm sure of it. You can come hang out on the balcony and eat good tacos with us during a resort day. I think I have enough direct points for a night or two :)

We like to do 6 or 7 nights. Last time we did 6 park days (a 5-day hopper plus a 1-day hopper.) But we'll probably stick to just the 5-day next time. We never rope drop and we never stay until close. Our days are fairly slow-ish. It's nice. Sometimes we add in that break day to just relax and do whatever.

Not sure how often you go, but MKs are going on sale in 20 minutes. We have similar park habits and find the enchant key ($699) works great for DVC stays unless you are forced to go primarily on weekends and holidays.

Interesting. I'm guessing you just work your stays around when you can get good value for your points and also when there is no block out days?

For us the block out days in summer were just too much so we had to jump up to the believe key. We plan on just getting cheap hotels on hotwire for short trips in the summer where the kids can go visit their cousins/aunts and uncles and do a day or two at Disneyland and/or Knotts. We save our DVC trips for the longer stays where we get a large room or two and have some family join us.

Currently in the queue, and only Inspire and Imagine are left today 😢

We typically only go once during a 12-month period. (This past year was rare as we pushed our trip up and ended up going twice.) And we have lucked out and gotten 5-day hoppers at the 4-day price. So I think that's still cheaper, even if you were to factor in discounts on food and whatnot.

The Enchant is blocked out for the dates we like to travel in June. But I will always keep MK in mind if we know a year where we might travel twice. I'd have to do the math beforehand though.

We don't like going in the summer, but usually have a trip planned right before and/or right after the summer blackout. Would rather do more outdoorsy stuff and avoid crowds that time of year since we're located in the Bay and the summer weather is nicer up here. Enchant has a lot of Sundays available and some Saturdays. We typically will do a resort day if we book a stay with a blackout day involved. Honestly for now less than half the price of the inspire, we just don't see the value.

Edit: come to think of it, those forced resort days are actually some of the nicest. It's often tempting to pop into DCA for a few minutes which turns into a few hours on planned resort days, but when you're blacked out, you have no choice.

Got a call from my guide this evening. He started out with “Calling to update you on VDH” “The update is there’s no updates…”
Got me all excited for nothing. Went on to say I was on his list for VDH and was curious if I was looking for more info or actually interested in adding more points there.
Seems like they’re trying to gauge interest on who to reach out to first.

I wonder if the garden views that would to camera-left of the first picture are still in the plans?

6 rooms gotta get dropped from the original 350 to meet DPB's 344 whimsically themed rooms and the 2nd garden building seemed like a good candidate to be part of that.
