Universal Studios Orlando Annual Pass - Upgrading Tickets & Blockout Dates

I am planning to purchase a Universal Annual Pass in the next month. Firstly, can we upgrade a ticket from a 3rd-party site (e.g. Undercover Tourist) and save money by doing that? Also, is it difficult/time-consuming to upgrade whilst at Universal?

Also, I’m considering purchasing a seasonal pass. I’ve seen that the blockout dates are also for concerts. When do the concerts tend to be?

Most of the concerts happen during Mardi Gras which is Feb - March timeframe. I don't see any blackout dates for a regular season pass. The extra cost events I think it is Rock the Universe you have to purchase a separate ticket for that event.

There are also holiday concerts, usually late Nov - Dec on Fri & Sat. On those days, you can still go to Islands but will be blocked out of Studios with the Seasonal AP. The Mardi Gras concerts are also primarily on Fri-Sat beginning of Feb-March.

You can definitely upgrade UT tickets to an AP. If you're onsite, it's fastest at the resort ticket counter. Otherwise, it's not a difficult process but there might be lines at guest services. Since it's not time sensitive, I'd suggest avoiding the morning "rush" at guest services - there are minimal lines later in the day.

I've upgraded my pass at Guest Services at the Islands of Adventure gate and it took like 15 minutes total. Granted the line was a bit longer since it was in the morning when many people were coming in.

You can also upgrade your pass at Universal hotels. My wife was able to do it super quick when we were staying at Dockside last year.
