Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Lazy things I love…

Lying in bed on a Saturday morning while my husband and dog are still snoring next to me. I’m doing that now!

Brunch. No hurry, no worry. Not having to wolf down breakfast and run out the door. Taking our time to make something special on the weekends. Enjoying it with a foamy cappuccino.

Sunday drives. We like to drive to the hill country with no real destination in mind. Just a nice, slow drive to see what we see.

Lazy...

Me right now! 🤣 I sat down to my computer about 2 hours ago thinking I was going to log in and catch up on some work this weekend. I know it needs to get done, but right now, I'm truly enjoying my relaxing morning. And I think I deserve it. Yesterday was my bday and I spent my morning getting pummeled with work issues. So, today is sort of bday part 2 where I just ease into it all.

Driving...I am so glad to see that I'm not the only one that enjoys going for a leisurely drive. During the peak of Covid, when little was open and gas was dirt cheap, we'd gas up the vehicle and drive aimlessly for a few hours just to get out of the house.

Hitting snooze and snuggling up in bed with the dog. Thankfully, our dog is not one of those alarm clock animals that demands to be let out at the crack of dawn.

Mine are all distractions
TV
Movies
Books on Tape, currently the Audible Harry Potter series
Oh, did you get the HP recordings by the amazing voice actor who has won several Grammys? You can tell exactly who is talking just by the voice he does, a different (and distinct) one for each character!

My DDIL loves HP, so when we went to Universal Florida after they opened HP land several years ago, in preparation I listened to all 5 books as I drove to and from work. Must say, the last 2 or 3 were too dark for me, but I did know the whole story..

Happy Saturday Everyone

#1 - Floating In My Pool - it’s one of my most favorite things to do. Especially when I can dedicate about 5-6 hours doing it.

#2 - New Years Day - this is my most favorite day of the year. It’s my day off from life. Everyone knows to not bug me and to not ask anything from me. I wake up, I go downstairs, I watch movies all day. I don’t get dressed, I eat my favorite snacks and the only time I get up from the couch is to use the bathroom and get food. I love this day and have been doing this since I got married.

#3 - Watching TV Outside - This is a new favorite. We bought nice outside furniture for under our gazebo and also bought a TV. The gazebo has a screen that goes around it to keep out the bugs. I love going out there at night to watch TV. It’s like I’m inside, but really outside - I love love love to do this. I sleep really good after sitting out in the fresh air for a few hours
Oh, my #2 thing is floating in my pool (#1 is floating in warm ocean water - my pool is unheated so it can be quite a shock to get in and I have to skip it in the winter). And I love watching TV outside, tho we just project it from my computer onto the house wall.

Good early morning friends with a hug

By my faith, my Redeemer, Jesus. Related, Revelations.

Relatives. Dad is sure a blessing from God to me.

Reading, both my ability to do so and thoroughly enjoy many books.

Routines can offer a lot of comfort.

Reassurance from a family member or friend indeed can bring much hope anew.

Pretty sure it is Jim Dale, I do love the voice, it is so calm and soothing to me

Reading ❤️ love my nightly reading I can sit and read for hours !!! Unless I’m sitting in the magical sleeping chair then I fall asleep and lose my place in my book 🤣🤣

Resourceful - I’m a very resourceful person I like finding ways to do things I can’t do but need to do - I need to move something heavy - I can’t lift it - I find ways most of the time around that problem to get the job done if I don’t know how to do something I start searching my friend Google for those helpful videos from those kind people who post them to show you how to do it ! I know my limits and don’t over step them but do challenge myself!! We’ve had mixed results 🤣🤣😊 some things worked out amazingly well others an exercise in massive huge frustration😡

Respectfulness - huge believer in manners and being respectful both giving and hopefully receiving. I taught my kids manners and to be respectful - the saying goes it cost you nothing to be respectful but I don’t believe that because it definitely shows something in value if you’re not just my opinion

Rest / this one’s really important for my body and soul! I think this one’s like one of the top tier most important ones it’s not just sleep it’s peace tranquility it’s the whole shebang / I now am able to get this and I’m very grateful ❤️

Good Sunday Morning!

#1 - Remote Controls - They really are wonderful!

#2 - Red Robes - Both my summer and winter red robes are wonderful and I miss them when I travel.

#3 - Red Roses - I have the beautiful silk red roses from my Grandma’s house that are perfectly placed in the entry way of my house. I just cleaned them yesterday to keep them looking bright and new.

Remotes is a really great one! Long gone are the days where we have to get up to change the channel or are tethered to the corded cable box with all of the channel buttons. I’m especially fond of the Roku remote app so I can just use my phone as the remote.

Ok, now three from me…

Reruns- You don’t see as much of it these days with on demand viewing, but I find myself coming back to tiny but timely show details that are burned in my head from reruns of my favorite shows. Last night, I turned to an oddball moment from a Friends episode to illustrate how DD17s emotions right now are perfectly normal. The point was that what she was doing and feeling was so commonplace and relatable that it made it into a popular sitcom. Beyond that, reruns just have great nostalgia and comfort elements.

Rockies - The mountains are my happy place. While I enjoyed driving through the mountains in CA and AZ, it reminded me of how I find a different and deeper kind of mountainous peace in the Rockies.

Road Trips - Some is just my hatred for the craziness of flying, but I truly love being on the ground and experiencing the journey. DD17 even used it to ease my nerves about Tuesday. It’s dorm move in day and I’m starting to have my emotions cloud my sensibilities. I started doubting my plans. She said our road trip experiences have given her a lot of confidence in my original plans.

Relatives: I’m always grateful for my beautiful family.
Resilience: I have the strength to roll with the punches and get right back up again.
Relaxation: Something I appreciate more and more the older I get. Being able to do a whole lotta nothing and not feel guilty about it is something I wasn’t able to achieve earlier in life. Total relaxation rocks!
