I wanted to share my Disney proposal and then the most amazing dinner to end the night! I'm at the DF's
parents house right now, but I will come back tonight or tomorrow to post the pictures I have! I warn you in advance, this might get a little long, so please forgive me!
Friday was our last evening at Disney and I had scheduled Cali Grill for that night as I was able to get a 7:40 ADR and I knew the Celebrate America fireworks would be playing at 9 that night.
Now, I will admit, DF and I have been together almost 4 years, lived together for 2, and he had asked enough questions about my vacation plans to make me wonder if a proposal may happen. But after the first couple days, I figured it must not be happening this vacation, and I was totally cool with that.
So, backing up to Thursday, it was our Epcot day. We finished up our DATW tour early, and so I suggested we check out the Boardwalk as I had never been over there. We boated it over, and it was such a cute area! We walked around the whole area, then continued on to the Beach Club and Yacht Club resorts. We loved them and decided we will definitely stay here next time...this time was an economical offsite trip.
Alright, so back to Friday. We got done with AK early, so we took our time getting ready for dinner, but still had a couple hours to spare. I suggested we take a cab to Downtown Disney. He mentioned going back to Boardwalk, but I explained it would take a little more work to get over to the Contemporary from there. The cab comes, and I start to say Downtown Disney for our destination, and he changes it to the Boardwalk. I'm a little suspicious at this point, but I go with it.
Well, we get there and it is so so hot, but we stroll around. We can't decide on any place to go, so we walk around. There is a beautiful gazebo that faces the one half of the Boardwalk and we go up there, but we just continue on our lap around. Then we grab a beer at the Yacht Club and sit in the lobby to cool down. At this point, I figure my suspicions are silly and just enjoy my drink.
I know this is going on awhile, so sure enough, we do the full lap around and end up back by this gazebo. DF says let's take a picture here with the view. I say okay, do you want me to grab someone, and he says no, let's use your timer. We go up and he says one second...sets my purse down and leads me to the railing. And as soon as I hear "Well, I didn't ask you to plan this trip to Disney just for a vacation..." I knew. He said some beautiful words and then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was so so sweet! Romantic and personal and at Disney!
We did get a couple attempts at pictures that I will post later.
I hope putting all this okay in a dinner review, but I had to share! Now on to the meal!
We arrived at 7:20 to the check-in. I said we had to add on a celebration to our meal...our engagement! The lady was so sweet and wanted to see the ring and all of that. Then I said we'd really like a window spot facing the Magic Kingdom. She said she'd put it in, but are we willing to wait...of course we said yes! So we took the pager and headed up. Stepping out to that observation deck was just great, and of course we were on
.
Well, at 7:45 the pager went off. Sure enough, we had what I think was one of the very best tables in the whole restaurant! I know the place is a little noisy, but once we were seated, we really didn't notice. They had the cute mickey confetti on the table and I was oh so happy.
Our waiter was Richard and he was nice and helpful. We said we wanted a champagne or reislingon the sweet side, and he recommended one of the German reislings...I can look into the name if anyone wants.
I had taken in much of the wonderful advice on these boards, and I really knew what I wanted to order, as long as DF agreed, and he did.
We started with the cheese board. It was a fun way to start the meal. We liked all of the cheese, besides the one in the middle, which I thought was okay and DF hated! But we enjoyed it, and I was also buying time to make sure we could sit for the fireworks!
Then we had to try some of this amazing sushi...we went with the Spicy Kazan roll. It was perfect! Fresh tasting seafood and the perfect amount of spice! The warm scallops between the rolls were a very nice surprise. I don't think I could have picked a better single roll, but I'd love to come back and try some more!
We didn't do any of the first course options even though the goat cheese ravoili was so tempting...but this was OOP and I didn't want to overdo it!
So, on to the entrees. I had to have the pork tenderloin and I was SO happy with my choice! I usually wouldn't pick pork, was what they pair it with makes it so worth it! I would think you'd have to like goat cheese to enjoy it, but it really was amazing. DF got the filet with the sauce on the side, and he was very happy I advised him to do that. The beef was very good, it looked like it would be tough with the oak grilled cooking, but it was good and tender in the center. He got it medium and was happy with it.
Just as we were bursting with fullness, it was fireworks time! The fireworks were just perfect, I started tearing up because I couldn't have pictured a more perfect engagement night! Our server brought over the dessert menu so we could think about it during the show.
DF said he couldn't put another bite in his mouth, but I had to try something! I went with the Banana Creme Brulee and it was very yummy. A strong banana flavor but still light enough like how I like it! And our server brought over a complimentary champagne toast!
So, all in all, just a perfect proposal, meal and engagement. I couldn't be happier. Thanks if you've made it this far! I will come back with pics. And thanks for all of the help I've received in planning this! I loved reading the reviews here, and I wanted to share for everyone else!
