Oh I thought the terms were you had to have room reserved to qualify. I get it now so that’s how it varies from WDW there’s one release only and you don’t need a hotel reservation. This makes me happy!
Ah, this rings a bell. We went to the one in 2023 and now I remember I was grumpy they *didn't* have dedicated booking window for guests with existing reservations (which we had).
I'm in the "too far to walk" camp for DLH for a mid day break - although the monorail can make it doable if you're on the far side of DLP. The two hotels are definitely close enough to do the restaurants/bars at each, so you can happily enjoy the ambiance of both regardless of which one you get booked.
I am missing Moonlight Magic by 2 days. Such is life, I suppose...
Im new to this DVC thing but really seems like they should be doing CA events later in the year since availability is so hard to come by in CA. Unless maybe thats their reasoning behind doing them so early in the year for CA
MM events are scheduled at the convenience of Parks & Resorts, not necessarily in accordance with DVC members' desires.
I know they don't do things based on what we want, just expressing my feelings on the matter. Pointing out that it’s crazy that unlike WDW it's known to them and us you cant really get a room on short notice but you need short notice availability for dates they hold it in CA. They could release CA MM dates earlier than when they release WDW dates and not mess with the convenience of the resorts, but again they don't do things based on our desires. At least they aren't requiring a room reservation, so there theres that. If Im lucky enough to get a reservation I guess I wont be sleeping at Disney to attend the timeshare owners event where I own a timeshare.
To be fair, I believe the whole point is to have MM be available as sort of a surprise perk for those that happen to already have trips booked; not for people to plan trips around the MM events.

The WDW coin was unavailable when we were in Orlando back in May, but by chance when we were at Aulani a couple of weeks ago we popped into Hoku Hideaway just as another guest enquired about the coin. Obviously we immediately asked if we could have one as well!Here is the coin for VGC & VDH. Told there is one at Aulani as well. “While supplies last. Limit one per Member Family per reservation”.
