Does anyone know if there is dairy in the new chicken nuggets that are being served on the children's menus?

Last year we had a difficult time at some of the counter service restaurants when trying to feed our milk allergic son. Many bent over backwards to help up but a few would not budge for help.:confused3

If you look at the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of this board, post #3 in that thread has some contact information about diets/food allergies. If you email the question to one of those places, they will be able to give you an answer.

Counter service for a dairy allergy child is very difficult because they have a lot of dairy free choices they are just not super kid friendly.

I do not think there are any chicken nuggets at a counter service that are dairy free. Fire and Drum at American Adventure in Epcot used to have them but I do not think they do any longer. All the rolls have dairy now but they do have Tapioca rolls for hambugers and hot dogs that are dairy egg and gluten free.

I was told that the pb and j sandwhiches are dairy free and many restaurants keep some in stock even if they are not on the menu.

50s Prime Time and Chef Mickeys were two sit down restaurants where we found dairy free chicken strips.

What really makes it tough is that he is also allergic to peanuts and all types of fish. No PB and J for him either!

On the FAQ page there's an email address for Brenda Bennett. Contact her and let her know your son's allergies. She'll email you back food lists with ingredients for the various restaurants and snack carts in the parks. You should also get some contact numbers and/or email addresses for park food service managers. With your son's combination of allergies, it would be a good idea to call them directly to discuss safe options so you can plan your meals ahead of time. The CS restaurants are a bit of a hassle with allergies. The binders can be a nightmare to go through and the staff isn't always up to speed on ingredient lists.

Not sure if you have a car; we typically do not so we always order groceries from wegoshop.com. They are really excellent about finding the safe foods that our son can eat. They have always been good at finding our son's harder to find food items from soy crackers to soy yogurt. He is so brand specific at times and they have always done a wonderful job.

BTW- Brenda is great. We just finished a stream of emails to get all of the chefs informed that we were coming -- she also contacted the counter service restaurants that we are eating at to make sure they were stocked with the foods we need for our son.

I did email her and she responded very promptly! I did already note in on our sit down dinners. We went last August and had a very good time. My son really is looking forward to going back again!

That is great! She did reply to me and was very prompt too! We do have a car and plan to make a stop first at the grocery store. We are staying at a value this time though and won't have the refrigerator. I guess ice would work well to keep a few drinks cool for him and I know they have soy and apple juice in the food courts.

With multiple allergies getting CS is really tough. There is one CS place per park that offers the gluten free rolls and other special allergy foods though it wasn't a place my family wanted to eat usually. I found for myself it was easier to eat a big CS breakfast at my resort (those resort CS places actually have kitchens and are much more able to get together safe foods), have a snack for lunch, and then TS dinner was no problem. If you are doing the DDP the resort CS was great because they would get me a workable meal and then I would just be charged one credit for whatever even if I ended up with fries with a sandwich that normally aren't included.

we just got back with my milk allergic 4 y/o twins and the nuggets still have dairy. Brenda Bennet had emailed me a list that stated that Cosmic Rays' kids nuggets did not have diary any longer, but when I looked at "the binder" and spoke with the manager, she said they still had dairy. So my DDs ate the grilled chicken strips on the mixed greens -- they said it was good.

TS places were the best at accommodating their allergy.

POP food court was great too -- just plan for a little extra time for the chef to make the food. It took 15 minutes for the waffle iron to heat up so my DDs could have dairy free mickey waffles. Well worth the wait!!
