Our 10th Anniversary of Fort Wilderness Rack Rates and Analysis!

After sitting on the data for a couple weeks, I've decided to go ahead and publish the rate data for 2025 at the Fort as it is right now. The reason I waited was that Disney has not released rates yet for December 2025. So I could not give 12-month 2025 info. The alternative was to give 11-month numbers or (what I ultimately decided to do was) provide 12-months of rates STARTING WITH DECEMBER 2024 and ending with the data for November 2025 (hence the asterisk * in the thread title). When December 2025 data is announced, I'll probably update to a calendar 2025 file.

A couple changes were implemented this year. I decided to list the data for EVERY NIGHT in the 12 months for all categories (campsites and legacy cabins). It actually took less time to implement than one might think. The data source is from the disneworld.com resort quote tool for the dates in the files. I also included Legacy FW Cabins (the ones being currently removed) but did not have 2023 data so there is no cabin year-over-year analysis.

All that being said .....

To set up the numbers, these were the rates on the stated dates they were pulled. Disney has and does increase rates during the season (rarely decreases) so if anything rates you find might be HIGHER than these. These rates included the 12.5% tax added to the plain rack rate and are rounded to the nearest dollar (for my sanity). Thus the rates shown represent your out-of-pocket spend.

2025 rates for all levels of campsites increased approximately 3.4-4.0% over 2024 rates. Overall the increase was 3.5% which was slightly below 2023's 3.7% and the smallest increase since the 2016 rates.

The rates with the green header at the top of the page are the daily (nightly) rates for the date shown.

The rates with the orange header at the top of the page are the 30 night totals for arrivals on the date shown.

The reason I went with showing rates per night was to be able to total up the cost of the maximum 30 night stay currently allowed. We have some DIS guests who go for long stays and I thought this would be helpful to show how much that stay might run (especially if it included various rate seasons like the January lower rates with the February higher rates). I have included a snip of each table below showing some January 2025 data.

There are two PDF files attached which you should be able to download: one with single night data and one with 30 night data.

One thing that surprised me is there are some big jumps in rates in back-to-back nights when a rate period increase is implemented starting on a weekend rather than on the previous weeknight rate.

Here is an example in late September 2024 leading into the October 2024 period. Note the highlighted low Thursday night (weekday) rate compared to the next night's Friday rate (weekend) and the start of the higher Fall period.

This "big jump" also happens in January 2025. It used to be that January was pretty cheap except for New Years days, the Marathon days, and the MLK weekend. Rates usually jumped to the higher rates for Spring in late January or early February. For 2025, though, the Spring rates go in starting the MLK weekend! Which really only leaves about two weeks in January with "Value" period rates. I dreamed about a 30-night stay encompassing January but that dream just got more expensive. Go see the green (per night) file around January 18-19 - it's a jump too.

Those are some whopper increases. :scared1:

That's all for now. My brain is tired. :headache:

PS - some internet websites recently claimed to have a year's rack rate "analysis" with just the rates shown - no analysis. But I try to show percent increases by category (this year the campsite levels were consistent within a narrow range) and also rate anomalies like the jump shown immediately above.

PPS - @team bradfield , I calc'd the 30 night table for (lucky) people like you.

Great info .
I have one night Thanksgiving and one night Xmas Eve new cabins .
Surprising how long DVC availability lasts for Xmas Eve every year .
For future reference.

I might factor in Purchase price plus maintenance plus value of points for that one night to compare with rack rate.
Castmembers were getting 50% discount at the old cabins for last minute availability . Probably never for new cabins !

I wonder if they have ended booking for old cabins or not in hurry to update entire Fort W.

I thank your brain

Did I miss the percent increase over prior year?

I thought some of last year's nightly rates were scary. And the first $200+ rates. But this year makes $200/night almost common for Premium Meadows. I'll stick with the slightly narrower, farther away Full loops, thank you.

Nice list.

Something to note, there will be no legacy cabins in 2025. I assume those rates are actually the new ones.

Well, no even with how quickly they wrap up the build of the new ones but they produced rates for the legacy cabins for 2025. As the top green line indicates, I pulled 2025 rates in early March 2024 and there were rates for the legacy cabins. I know that for a fact because I tried to pull the 2024 legacy cabin rates back to January 2024 to be able to do a year-over-year comparison. Obviously in March 2024, I could NOT go back in time to pull January 2024 and February 2024 but simply updated the date range in the same request to get rates for March 2024 to November 2025. And I don't think cash rates for the DVC cabins had been released yet on March 7, 2024.

So the rates were there in March four months ago for the legacy cabins and may be gone now. I've seen the DVC cash rates and they appear to be slightly higher than the rates shown here for legacy.

To validate, I peeked at the 2025 Fort Wilderness Rates for the Cabins at www.mousesavers.com which is an excellent resource and they list the legacy cabin AND the 1BR DVC cabin rates. Note the highlighted weekday rate in the Value period of early January of $485 matches the green rate in my example for 01/07/25.

Here is my screen grab from March 2024 for January 2025 legacy cabins (without the 12.5% taxes).

So the legacy cabin rates were there. Mousesavers got them and I got them. Whether they're still there or not is immaterial. Like I said, DVC rates were not published when I pulled this info. So the data is accurate for what it purports to represent.

The campsite categories varied between 3.4-4.0% with an overall average of 3.5%, Jim. It's in the paragraph near the top under the paragraph with the bold text.

Jim the increase on all sites has been a little steep over the past few years. We stayed in premium meadows on 2023 for 8 nights at 1651.51. We booked 2025 for the same site class for 8 nights after discussing it with friends we vacation with and its 2012.64 after taxes. I would be just as happy with a premium site for our 2025 trip but we really liked the 1000 loop in 2023 for this trip and after talking over prices between premium and meadows the cost was limited. If we where staying any longer I would not stay in meadows, but at least for vacation mode it works for us.

Thanks for all the hard work Ed, but yikes, yikes, yikes!!! The prices are scary! 😱

I hear you. I guess it's as with all things travel; location, location, location.

We usually go every 2-3 years and I start planning almost as soon as we get back from a trip. When I'm doing my 'beginning' budget I start out by looking at what we paid for that most recent trip and add 10% to the package price right off the bat. So far it's been pretty darn accurate, I'd say within $100-200 of the actual package price at booking.

Of course, since our next trip will be to the cabins I'm cutting down the number of nights to 9 (from 11) and adding 20%. But who knows what the actual price will be in 2026/7 when we hopefully go. Our HUGE savings in fuel makes up for part of the price difference between cabin & campsite; r/t fuel when towing $2300, r/t fuel driving our Prius $350.

Just for giggles...........we stayed in 2005 for 10 nights for $290 (military discount included) ha ha ha!

Ha, Carrie stop - yer killin' me:

Kids today have no memory of Redd Foxx (as Fred Sanford) or his tv show "Sanford and Son" from the mid 70s. And they're missing out on a comedy classic.

But his famous "Big One" scene (which he would invoke often) is appropriate here.

Next you're gonna tell me it was in May (wonderful weather) and the parks were "walk-on" for every SINGLE ride. :rolleyes1

Bama Ed

PS - this is why I want to hide and hunker down for 30 days (like @team bradfield) in a Tent site (1500 loop outer in back along the canal) in January (relatively inexpensive month) but DW won't go for it. :sad2:

Now it wasn't May! I think it was June or July! We bought our first used RV with no slide outs. We have 2 sets of twins and it had one set of bunks so we put 2 kids in each bed! I believe rack rate was like $60 dollars but military was like 50% off!

I bought some type of "sunshine" tickets that was meant for overseas people but it was ok to use. Probably got the hint off disboards!!

But yes $300 for 10 days! Oh the good ole days! we had a blast!

Now it is $175/night and you beg for a 10% discount! We still do it but if we were a young family we would not be able to.
