Thankful and Thriving-November 2024 WISH

Hi Friends!!! I got Mushu the dragon!!!!

To close the loop on our tree saga…DH found a place 30 minutes away that is a tree farm/Christmas village. You have breakfast with Santa then ride a train out to the trees and cut them down. Lots of activities for the kids as well-slides, crafts ect…so we are not only continuing our tree tradition but hopefully adding some additional traditions if this works out! 10 of us are going so far!

My week ended well, whooohoooo that Awana went well Wednesday and next week we are on a break for thanksgiving. When we come back the following Wednesday the kids and church will be in full Christmas mode which is exciting!

Thankful for living so close to my kids and getting to see them so often. The older I get the more thankful I am for that.

Yesterday I babysat my granddaughter for the afternoon and evening-the longest I have had her ☺️ we had a great time she’s getting so big. She left around 9pm and I went to bed shortly after.

Today we walked at the spca and ended up coming home with a foster. A sweet older gal who is incredibly thin…I just could not leave her there. She’s settling in well, it’s only been a few hours and she’s been sleeping most of the time. She’s exhausted bless her heart.

Tomorrow is church then my daughter in law and I are going to do a fall themed 3 month photo shoot with my granddaughter ☺️ gotta dig my fall decor back out of the shed LOL

We had a beautiful day here today! I think it's supposed to get colder for the rest of the week though. Self care for me today was giving my closet a good cleaning! I purged some old clothes that I haven't worn in a long time. I'm typically bad about purging, so I'm trying to do better!

The weekend was lovely. I went into it thinking crafting was priority one and as it turned out, instead of feeling guilty about crafting and not doing all the chores doing chores felt like an extra above-and-beyond bonus, and I probably accomplished more of them than a normal weekend. I'm happy with how my rag wreath turned out but not so happy with the crochet garland I made but will probably leave it up. I put lights up outside but most of the strings were dead - ugh. I wasn't planning on buying any this year, knowing I won't be here for next Christmas, but now need at least two more strings just for the one bush.

I decided to take Friday off, so now have a super short three-day work week - woohoo!

I love that thought about the second one being as good as the first one...

I try to remind myself that foods are not in short supply and I will always have it again sometime. It is a special meal, but there will be more like it in the future - enjoy it, but don't over-do it

I hope you get feeling better - I hate being sick around the holidays!

The graphic pretty well sums up what balance looks like for me and reiterates how out of balance I've been lately, because the no-pants days greatly outnumber the salad days. I really need to get myself back on track. I did find an in-network counselor in my soon-to-be new town who specializes in ADHD and will soon reach out to see if she would be a good fit for me.

I think I have everything needed for Thanksgiving. I'm planning on doing the pies tomorrow evening and then the squash Thursday. Work meetings end at 2p tomorrow, so I'll be signing off just after that - woohoo. Haven't even thought about what to do Friday, the forecast is no rain, so something out of doors for sure.

Balance is key to…everything. Days where I exercise vs days I flop on the couch. Days where I’m work work work vs days where I zone out. Hours spent 100% focused on the kids vs a little me time.
The week balance is really focusing at work during those hours and enjoying the time off during those hours. Holiday prepping part time while just simply “being” during others.
Currently sitting on the couch with DS9 who just got his head gear apporathice today and thank goodness it’s just a nighttime thing because oh boy this is a sight!

Woohoo... it is Friday! And tomorrow we eat! And make merry... there will be eight people attending so a nice sized group and plenty of conversation.

I saw the first half of Wicked last week: mid-way thru I felt a cough coming up so excused myself. I'll try to go back and see the entire thing over the holiday weekend. I have to say I was mostly perplexed about the part I did see: I had been to the stage production in London back in 2010 but couldn't remember any of the story line and kept thinking "there are animals"? I'm better prepared this time and want to just soak up the music.

My WooHoo is looking forward to Thanksgiving - all 3 kids will be home so should be a fun day of visiting with both sides of the family! Tonight I'm taking cards to a local lady who does live wreaths. It's what I get all of the girls at work as their Christmas gift. She delivers to everyone, so makes my job in the whole thing pretty easy. The girls all seem to love them, so I've been sticking with it the past few years. I'll get glad to get the ball rolling on them.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!!! I know we are all looking forward to the time with family tomorrow!!

My motivation this week came from the realization that the season of weight gain is upon us and I still have not lose my vacation weight…🫠 I have had a good 3 days but tomorrow will be a free for all lol!

Whoooohoooo for the short week and the weekend to spend time with loved ones!!
