I'm no defender of Charlie Manson. I think he is as evil as evil comes. I was just saying that he didn't physically kill anyone during the Tate/LaBianca murders. He should NEVER get out of jail.

I never thought you were a defender. They are a rare breed!

He wasn't only convicted of the Tate/LaBianca murders. He was also tried for Shorty Shea's death and Gary Hinman's.

While he didn't physically kill at the La Bianca residence, he was along that night. He chose the house. He was the one to break in. He was the one to tie them up so there would be no chaos when he sent the back up crew in to do the dirty work.

Where I come from, that's being pretty physically involved even if you didn't pull the trigger (so to speak).

The Tate murders were some of the most bizarre and brutal of all time. These people are completely insane IMO. And on top of all of that, I understand that Manson thought he was sending the murderers to kill a record company exec that had denied him a record deal (Manson was a wannabe musician) so it was nothing more than a revenge murder, not that the motivation matters, still a brutal crime at the highest levels. I can't understand how anyone could do something like that.

Anyone watch the recent documentary about Manson on I think it was the history channel. Pretty shocking how seemingly normal they were, before the murders, its probably one of the most bizarre and shocking things that they would obey Manson to this level.

I'm glad none of them are going to have to go through this particular experience again.

Hopefully Atkins' death will provide closure and healing for anyone who was personally involved in that experience.

Yeah that's what I was saying, I thought it was something like that, although I couldn't remember if Manson had actually sent that guy a tape of him and he was supposed to "get back" to him. Not that it matters it was still one of the most shocking brutal murders in history. Motivation really doesn't matter.

I used to believe they went there thinking Melcher still lived there, but if you pull up some transcripts from early on, they clearly all stated that they knew he'd moved.

While I am sure a lot of this was very self serving, I find this motive to be more believable than the Melcher scenario or Helter Skelter. It wasn't written by Susan Atkins, so don't confuse the URL, but it was written and Susan would later approve much of it.

I believe she's back to pure energy form, and now she knows how horrible, vile, and evil a person she was, with no regard for human life, especially that of a baby that she help ripped out of his mother's womb, with no remorse. There's a "special" place in the energy-field for spirits like that.

Using new-age terminology that I sense you believe in, she became human, deliberately caused horrible pain, and has now left. I can never use the words "happy for her" in any way, shape, or form. Well, except to say I'm happy that she's gone. The rest is between her and her Maker.

It makes me mad that they actually made Atkins "comfortable" (my words) before her death- she had cancer and in my opinion shouldn't have had any medical intervention. She was a monster. Let nature take it's course.

Good, the world is a better place without her. Three years ago, I met a former CA prison guard who worked in the area where Manson is housed. He told me that looking into Charles Manson's eyes where like a window into he#$, and that he was the most scariest loser in the prison system, even the other losers don't mess with him.
