Surprisingly hard to get ADR?

We all know the big ones to get as soon as your 60 days hit - CRT, Ohana, Topolino's breakfast etc...

What are some ADR's one might not think of making thinking they would be easy to get closer to the date or even as a walk up? But you end up being disappointed.

I'm going in September with my 7yr old daughter - we are not doing lots of TS this time, maybe one. But not making any ADR's we will see day off what we can get and what we feel like eating.

I was surprised of all the ADR's I made for my last trip that Steakhouse 71 was the hardest to get, even harder than Chef Mickey's. Had to pick a later time than we wanted, but we still got it.

We frequently eat at Disney Springs to avoid the whole ADR craziness by booking via OpenTable but this Memorial Day visit have booked 2 Disney eateries successfully : Flying Fish for me and Ohana for DGD. Will wait until we are on-site to book other places except maybe the Cake Bake Shop. Might be wise to book in advance.

ETA: May have been sheer luck getting Ohana but got it I did and on the first try.

I had no problem getting Ohana this most recent trip either (January 2025) and it’s usually hard to get. I dont know what was going on but ADRs for normally hard to get places were fairly easy this trip. The only one that I had a little difficulty with this trip was Raglan Road, and I tried open table and Disney but could only get a 9pm ADR. Maybe less people are eating sit down due to prices?

Scifi is consistently my hardest to get ADR. This most recent trip I didn’t have as much of an issue but usually it’s very hard to get.

I wanted to book this one for our last trip but never got a suitable time for us (only like 9PM available) but we got lucky and got a perfect 6PM day off! In the end my 6yr old didn't like it because the movies were "too scary" ... go figure :P

We frequently go as a party of 2 and are always pleasantly surprised by how many "hard to get" reservations are available day-of for smaller parties in particular.

Beaches and Cream is a challenge! Especially because I want my ice cream in the evening ;)

You can get all ice cream items, except the Kitchen Sink, at the take-out window at B&C (ask the hostess for a menu as all items are not listed at the to-go window). I've also had very good luck getting walk-ups on the app with small parties in the evenings at B&C.

Speaking of Sci-Fi, we just booked a trip for the first week of May using the Florida Resident 4-Day ticket. We wanted to do the F! package at Sci-Fi and found no availability at any times for any of the four days. DM was surprised because park reservations (which we needed because of the Florida Resident part of the tickets) were wide open for every day. She called and the CM she spoke to also seemed to think that was strange. I know it's a popular restaurant but are they not taking reservations that week for some reason? Even Art Smith's Homecomin' had times available, although not the ones we wanted.

On my trip two weeks ago... ODDLY... I had founds trying to get an ADR from 5:30-7:30 at San Angel to be a challenge. I had never had that experience before. I posted on here to ask about it, and some suggested it was due to a redesign of the dining space. Sure enough, when I ate there, it did seem like there were less tables.

Came here to say this. The Kitchen Sink has eluded us our past 3 trips, and we were able to book everything else including Akershus breakfast which can be elusive as well.

Similar, I haven't been able to get a ADR to Rodeo Round Up, they had no dinner times reservations available, I checked for the whole week 60 days out and no times between 4-7:30, only before and after.

I have never seen a Sci-Fi reservation available. My son said he'd like to eat there, I was like yeah thats not gonna happen.

We had a Be Our Guest experience we were so so excited for... hands down worst Disney dining experience we have ever had. Food, service, all of it was terrible. I got a reservation for Space 220 for our trip next week, based off of reviews I feel like we might leave slightly disappointed but we will still go anyway.

I have been looking at reservations next week and for character dining I have found wide open availability, except Topolinos.

Sci- Fi is hard. We lucked out last time with a same day reservation, right before Fantasmic which was amazing! Probably a combination of limited seating/popularity makes it tricky to get...

Wow.. I decided to check multiple times today since this thread posted and I was able to get a Sci-Fi reservation in 10 days when we will be at HS.
