Tomorrow I'm participating in the local Hands-Off protest, so yesterday I walked from the apartment to the gathering point as a test run. On the way back I decided to stop in at the little bistro and had a burrata salad for dinner. The weather was nice enough to sit out on the front patio and it was a lovely impromptu experience.
Totally counter to having just spent money to eat out, I've been thinking a lot about how to save more money. I've slipped back into the pattern of impulse buying food (it is so nice to have a good grocery store in town) and tossing way too much that doesn't get eaten. My first brilliant cost-saving idea is to stop getting salads at the salad bar and buy the ingredients to make my own instead. I'm thinking doing this I can probably get three salads for the cost of one... this theory will get tested next week.
