Does anyone know or has anyone stored a car at the Orlando International Airport. I have spent days searching on line for storage a vehicle at or near MCO. but no luck. I may be searching wrong as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you mean something different than long-term parking? How long do you plan on leaving it there?

We would leave it there year round and use it when we go there on vacation.

Oh! I have never heard of anyone doing that AT the airport. I might start by checking the storage type companies (one in Florida that we used in the past was called Uncle Bob's, I believe). They are a national company.

So your looking for an "Owners Locker" type of facility, but for a car. I've never heard of such a thing any where. I'd be leary of leaving a vehical parked, untouched, for a year anywhere. I realize your trying to provide your own transportation around Orland/Disney, but if such a thing existed, I would think the cost would be very high. What kind of liability insurance would the storage facility require of you and you of them. Another question is, what kind of insurance would you need to have on the vehical, and would any insurance company touch it being parked unused for so many weeks out of the year, and what state would the car be registered in? Different states, different insurance requirents. With the on set of hurricane season now, what would you do if a hurricane damaged or destroyed the storage facility and your car. To me, this could turn into a nightmare.

You might try one of the off-site parking lots to see if they offer a long-term deal. Payless Parking and Park, Fly & Relax are both close by and offer free shuttle service. The latter, their rate is $5.99/day ($6.99/day with airport fee and sales tax) but who knows, they might negotiate you a much lower rate on a monthly or annual basis. Other than that, you could check the U-Haul website to see what location they have that is closest the airport. They may have some garage-sized storage facilities that could support a car.

I've got to believe that renting a car while you're there would be cheaper than storing a car year round with all the added expenses that car would incur. JMO

Uncle Bob's that I mentioned also discusses car storage on their site - when I looked again after I posted - the Google links I found said that, along with some information on the requirements (car in good condition, etc.). I do think if you want to do it, a self-storage place is where you would do it.

Thanks everyone for your wonderful input. I have searched around and made several phone calls as well. Having no luck so far.

Consider posting this on the camping board, since I would think someone there must know of a storage place nearby for RVs. My DC who lives near Detroit stores his travel trailer at a HUGE place and last time we went there, there were many cars parked there, as well, being stored.

Really? The self-storage facilities that vicki c and I posted - the ones that SAY they allow vehicle storage - won't??? Interesting... Maybe a car dealer with a large lot? One of your BIG problems has got to be that the car needs to be started and operated periodically. Do you know anybody in the area you trust, someone with whom you can leave the car and who will start it once a week and drive it X miles once a month?

Otherwise, the whole thing is probably a BAD idea.

All very good points. Since we will be going down 5-6 times a year I am thinking we really dont need someone to start it a lot for us. I did find a storage facility 5 minutes from the airport. They do store vehicles for folks like us. They also have a transportation to and from the airport. The thing is the cost to park the vehicle outside is $79 a month and inside is $105. I was hoping for around $60.
