SSR Lovers and Owners Part 4

Love it!!! I am excited to stay here!! Not soon enough until we're there.
Also, since you have the kitchenette, order groceries from Garden Grocer. When you check into SSR, they will bring your groceries out and put it on a golf cart and drive you to your room. Having breakfast in your room is a good money saver. Get bottled water and use it to make coffee in your room so the coffee will taste better :) My DD loves the cheeseburgers at the Paddock pool and she is picky. If you have AAA, you can get a 15% discount at Earl of Sandwich. We love getting takeout from DS and eating on our balcony. Enjoy!

Oh that's actually something I was wondering about! We typically order from Instacart and either have the groceries left at bell services, or I meet the driver at bell services and transport the gtroceries myself. So at SSR, bell services will bring grocery deliveries to the room? That is great if so! I was wondering how that worked considering how expansive the resort is. My oldest daughter loves cheeseburgers also, so that sounds great about the Paddock pool. Thanks for the tips!

Yes, they will take you by golf cart to your room and bring the groceries along. It is great!

am I correct that the treehouse villas are under refurbishment this year? I thought I read that somewhere and now am second guessing. anyone have insight and if yes, timeline?

Disney reconfirmed the 2025 timing last month. However, they did not provide any specifics.

If Disney's timeline of refurbishments is sequential (and it has a timeline with arrows on it, so it reasonably is), then the Treehouse refurb likely begins in summer of 2025.

Copper Creek's soft goods refurb is expected to begin in May while Kidani's hard goods refurb was announced to begin in October (according to plans at the time of the announcement).

Treehouses are positioned between the two on the timeline, so beginning between CCV and AKVK is reasonable to expect.

Thank you for getting this thread started again. We love SSR and hate that it gets dissed on so much! We love SSR when we are doing few park days. It is so easy to walk over to DS or to go to another resort. We look at the modes of transportation and then decide if we go to a park and then hop on the mode of transportation to the resort or go to DS. When leaving a resort to go back to SSR, we go with the bus that is there first! We look at resort hopping (for the restaurant or just to visit) as an adventure and enjoy the ride!

Does anyone know if Lyft/uber or even a Minnie van can drop/pick up from a treehouse villa? Or only from main resort area? We are doing an AH event, and looking for easy way to get home.

A Minnie Van for sure can. Lyft/Uber will be driver dependent for pick up. There's a gate at the entrance. If they push the button they will talk to the guard shack, and upon confirming they are there to pick up, the guard should remotely open the gate. But, you have to have a driver that understands that procedure. We found many did not.

Fantastic thread with TONS of info! Thanks, guys. I have been considering DVC purchase, but the tough part is choosing my home resort. Given the lower buy-in and maintenance fees, SSR is a no brainer. Also, i like being close to DS. Is it crazy difficult to book other resorts at the 7 month mark? That’s the one thing holding me back.
We just bought a resale SSR contract for the first time. Mathematically it made sense to buy SSR. We haven't tried to book other resorts yet at the 7 month mark but we will be fine with staying at SSR if that's all that's available. We love SSR.

When we bought resale we bought at SSR. I know some people buy them for sleep around points but we love SSR. It's a beautiful resort, nice rooms and awesome pools. We stay there 95% of the time, only time we stay elsewhere is when we travel with famiy and then we got to OKW for the huge rooms. We are fine with the quiet resorts.

We are going to have a big family trip in March 10 people in a 3 bedroom grand villa. Never have done a grand villa so super excited. When we stayed at SSR on a previous trip we were in the farthest Grandstand building from the lobby. We are debating if we should do a request for grandstand again, just doing 1 day at the park out of 4 day trip. With 2 young ones, I thought either that or the paddock as it is close to the pool there. Wondering if there have any previous experience
