Could Disney Vacation Club be eyeing an expansion at Animal Kingdom Lodge?​

Granted, I'm speculating here, but with recent sales incentives, increased buybacks, and a 2026 refurbishment on the horizon, the idea of flipping Jambo House into more DVC villas might not be as far-fetched as it seems!

Is this a smart move for Disney, or would you rather see a brand-new DVC resort? Let me know your thoughts!

I vaguely recall a claim that a vacation plan had to exist for at least 40 years at the time of initial sale per FL law, but I don't see that anywhere in the relevant statute. If there is such a requirement (and there might not be) then any new DVC units at AKL would have to be in a new association.

Excellent article and speculation.

I think it would depend on how well the cash sales are doing / if they have lots of empty rooms and lost revenue.

That said - I’m hoping for a Skyliner expansion there someday.

Assuming they converted another floor, then it’d be the same 130 (206 max) number of villas as the current 5th floor configuration I assume. OTH, if they followed the cheap & quick flip GF BPK model of just relabeling hotel rooms to studios, then the number would be higher.
I personally don’t see this happening given the contract end date & the fact that AKV rarely has availability issues except for the value/club categories, although Jambo does fill up faster than its much larger sibling Kidani.

Great point! Not sure if it changed or was removed or not. I'm not seeing anything immediately when looking at current statutes and law.

So let's say they offer a 30 year product and knock off 20-30% of the current direct pricing to make it more in line with the typical cost per year... Would you purchase it?

Are we assuming the dues are lower than they are now because the cost for maintaining the resort are spread out over more points?

I think resale prices would definitely jump….

Me personally? I already own enough AKV points to stay at Jambo for my typical every other year annual stay there, so no. I alternate w/ VGF & did add on there w/ BPK since I was always in borrow mode w/ my VGF stays, thus I ‘needed’ more points to book there during home resort.

I think they could convert another floor if cash occupancy is low at Jambo.

AKV I believe is the cheapest priced deluxe resort - that tells me it could be a prime target for conversion.

I am not convinced it is necessary.

We like AKV, an expansion would not put us in one category or the other. I think they would be wise to enhance the club inventory though. Would hope it not go the studios only route.
