Something Wicked this MAY Comes! 18 nights @ RPR & SFR. An April/May 2025 TR

Much as though we love RP, Sapphire is absolutely the prettiest of all the hotels from the exterior, front and back so whichever way you arrive at the hotel, it is gorgeous.

Again, seeing the Porte Cochere area deserted is rare, all the hotels are consistently busy and rarely do you get a break from traffic coming in and out.

The parking lot which is covered is to your right as you drive in, or head to the door area for Valet, it is a little more spacious than RP here but again, it does get busy.

i-XMwBrXT-X2.jpg

The lobby here is impressive, it is light and airy and plenty of check in desks with lovely staff, but again, I think all the hotels do have impressive staff, we just know so many here and at RP we may just be a wee bit biased towards them

i-dkfnwch-X2.jpg

Coming off the lobby you have access to all three Guest Houses, a rather decent sized Universal store, Concierge, ticket desk, rental car desk, the New Dutch Trading Grab and Go and of course the pinnacle of bars and restaurants within UOR, Strong Water Bar which is simply incredible.

Coming to the hotel on the boat is very impressive, it is so pretty and definitely one of the best views around, night time is equally impressive if not more so, well worth a visit if you`re not stayin there.

If you`re not staying in the hotels you can still utilise the boats and visit any of the hotels you fancy, whether it`s just for a wander or to take advantage of the restaurants or bars they offer, it`s a nice visit regardless to any of the onsite hotels.

The pool is lovely here too, it is very shallow in parts, you can walk across the centre of it easily, but they do have a slide on one end of it which is very popular and again the pool bar for food and drinks is very, very good.

i-XW6MXPk-X2.jpg

They also have one of the nicest firepits around, close to the pool and the pool bar, it is popular with folks in the evenings.

When Sapphire first opened we were fortunate to be given a tour of the whole property and saw all the room types including the beautiful Presidential Suite which is huge, but this is the suite that is our favourite in this hotel, The lovely Sapphire Suite.

It is incredibly spacious and having two bathrooms is a real pleasure, Tom gets the one by the door all to himself....lol....bless him, he never minds and I think quite enjoys having his own space.

We love this suite, it is large but in the evenings with the low lamps on it is also really, really cosy and we do enjoy an odd evening watching a movie on the tv with some snacks and a bottle of wine.

i-xvQfZrG-X2.jpg

The kitchen is small, yes, but the fridge is a decent size and we have been known to more or less fill it at the start of our stay here with goodies, mainly wine, but hey, that`s a goodie!!

i-nSQPJnc-X2.jpg

i-3HNGkpF-X2.jpg

And my bathroom!!

It is huge, it`s own little toilet, bathtub with shower over it and an enclosed shower which is large and has always had good water pressure like RP has.

And having the double sink even though it`s only for me, is nice!!

i-c5FpGxf-X2.jpg

We love the lagoon view in this hotel, the sunrise in the morning over RP is incredible and you can keep an eye on how busy the boats are.

Sapphire boats can get very busy as folks from Aventura and CBay use them too, but they do run regularly and only on a few occasions have we waited a long time over the years.

More to come
I love the beach ball chandelier at SF! And I agree, it has such a beautiful approach by boat 🥰 You can’t go wrong with a SF stay! Although I will say we aren’t willing to give up our Express to stay there ☺️

I am horrible! With all going on with kid going to college and then the mess of being a federal employee, I have been neglectful. Will message you!

:welcome: back Alice!!

You have been missed and you have been a busy bee! Other friends and I say the same thing, life passes and goes so fast, it’s not always easy to keep in touch!

You’re not horrible :flower1:

But, email sent off so we’re sorted now. I know you’re planning your trip for July with your boy, but glad to have you along for this one again, always happy to see you here :wave2:

That lobby is beautiful! And yes the boat is a very nice way to return to the hotel after some park time.

Already can’t wait to get back for this trip

Looking forward to following along. Hoping to get to Epic Universe when the first rush calms down. Doing more Europe and Asia in the meantime!

:welcome: back Margaret 😊

Good to see you, hope all is well with you and of course I do hope you enjoy this one too.

Asia and Europe sound lovely, so many places to choose from, yes, don`t blame you avoiding Epic for a time, it is going to be manic for so long.

I know what we`ve heard from folks so far it`s out of this world, everyone has been so impressed.

Happy to see you :wave2:

Well, time does creep up doesn`t it!!!

Can`t quite believe it`s already April 1st, so last night we thought we`d better get around to doing something about our rental car, something we usually have booked by now, but we hadn`t given it much thought up till now as we`ve just been busy.

The price for 18 nights can be a sticker shock at times, and last night we did get a pleasant surprise and found most of the places we price against each other were all decent and not over the top.

We never forget just after Covid one agent wanted over $4,000 for a rental for just over three weeks, yeah that was never happening, but it is a lot better priced today.

We always dither about getting a car versus an SUV, we drive an SUV at home and do like the higher ride, but we decided this time to look at regular car options too, however none really inspired us so we ended up looking at SUV`s again.

We used to always get a Suburban or Tahoe and once or twice ended up with an Escalade which really is too big for us, although it was fun to drive, it was a little like driving a bus with no traction at all!!!

Last year we went with Sixt for the first time after using Alamo exclusively apart from one venture to Dollar, not to be repeated for sure and we were always happy with Alamo but these last two trips their prices have been double and on one occasion triple what Sixt were asking, so we were planning to look around.

Last year we had a GMC Acadia and for a rental car it was decent, we never expect a high powered vehicle when we rent one here, we did used to have the Maserati and a Porsche on one occasion, but they weren`t the high spec we`re used to here, so we do just look for a car that`s comfy and has maybe a few little toys, we don`t expect power too.

So, for this trip we managed to get another Acadia or similar of course, as long as it`s not a Rav 4 we`ll be happy.....and all for less than $700!!!

One more job sorted!!!

Hey Carole,

After reading a bunch of your trip reports I thought I should jump in and say thanks so much for sharing your memories with us all. I really enjoy reading about your trips and have found the information you share each time super useful for our visits to Universal and RPR. We visited Strong Water Tavern on our last trip and loved it.

Wishing you and Tom another wonderful adventure next month and look forward to reading all about it!

:welcome: along SnowWhite, glad to see you here!

And thank you for the lovely compliments, happy to have helped in any way at all. And super happy you enjoyed Strong Water, one of our favourite places.

Thank you, we are very much looking forward to this upcoming trip and will be happy to have you along for the ride, look forward to your comments too :wave2:

Hi Carole. New reader here and very interested in reading about your upcoming trip. Long time Disney bubble traveler my family would never stay outside of Disney. We are thinking of a trip later this year, but I have talked them into a Universal stay first. Thinking about Sapphire Falls it sounds perfect.

:welcome: along Draco.....fabulous name!!!

I`m so glad you joined in, and I honestly cannot recommend Sapphire Falls enough, it is a beautiful resort for a whole mix of ages and a lovely pool with a slide if you have little ones, and very relaxing if you don`t lol....

So would this be a first visit to Universal or just a first onsite stay? Either way I think you`d love it there.

And happy to have you along for this one, I do hope you enjoy reading and commenting along the way :wave2:

Thanks my favorite movie is harry potter hence the name😂We have been to universal a few times, just have never stayed there. How about Cabana Bay have you stayed there?

It is a good name for sure and yes we love the Potter movies too, always enjoy a binge watch of them all twice a year, sometimes more if the weather sucks here.....which it does often 🥴

I`m probably the wrong person to ask about CBay as I genuinely don`t like the look of it, I would knock it down and start again, we know many folks who have stayed there and wouldn`t stay again, however there are equally as many that seem to love it and always have a nice stay which is nice to read.

The lazy river is popular and the food court seems to get praised and as always with the hotels, the bus service to and from the parks is excellent. But, no I`ve never stayed there, just doesn`t appeal to us at all.

We have only ever stayed at Sapphire and RP, love them both 🥰

I agree with you about Cabana Bay. The retro 60's look is not for me. I lived through that look of orange plastic furniture and the other ugly fixtures of that era. I even had a kitchen with apple green, orange, and gold wall paper! What was I thinking???? We had the orange uncomfortable sofa in our family room too. But that was all the rage back then. I am not interested in reliving that now, LOL

We also had the blonde modern looking dining room set with a huge buffet. Today those types of furniture are "in" . If I would have kept that old cra....stuff, I might be rich now :rotfl2:

Thanks I think we stick with sapphire as

thanks I think I am sold on sapphire. Hopefully will start the planning soon we love September time or during Christmas but I would have to wait on Disney for party dates. Grandkids love the Christmas party at MK.

lol......I think if we all looked back we`d all have some similar memories....yellow, brown, green and gold were all prevalent colours in the home......mustard and blue thrown in there too!!! But, it was of it`s time I guess.

CBay reminds me of a communist block building we used to see in Eastern Europe, nothing pretty about it at all. But, I`m told I do have an irrational dislike of it lol....maybe it is me....and you too apparently!!!

Oh goodness yes, it would all sell as "retro chic" today :thumbsup2

I don`t think you`d be disappointed in Sapphire and yes the grandkids will love the pool with the slide!

I`ve only ever seen friends pictures of the Christmas Party at MK, it always looks so beautiful and a lot of fun, and September is one of our favourite times to visit along with May....let your planning commence soon......:cool1:
