Something About Nothing............ #14

Y’all fall in a hole? Jogged my brain back to this I heard as a kid & not living my bestest life lol. Assume it’s not a common platitude.

Today, get to enjoy the two large turkey breasts and pumpkin pie I made yesterday. The mr in the kitchen doing his slicing magic, whole house smells heavenly. Will continue all afternoon as I make broth for soup. Usually sunday is wings & football, switching up as it’s going to be long season for my team lol

Not thrilled when I took off my toenail polish from last trip and saw one of nails blackened, appears the errant suitcase slammed it hard enough to do damage. Doesn’t hurt, just starting to raise up funny. If it’s going to fall off, hope it happens sooner vs later. Not my 1st rodeo with that mess.

Any weekend plans for the gang here?

Running around like a blue asped fly today.....but popped in for an email address I`ve forgotten, will send a pm to get it.

Food sounds good Janet, we love Turkey!!

Hope the toenail survives, yes, we know don`t we!!!

Back in a bit, last batch of 150 cookies is about ready!!

hope you saved one cookie for me…

Of course!!! They are gorgeous!!

I did make a giant one for Kyle with the last of the dough, he`ll love it, completely covered in chocolate chips on top and a separate box for him to take home.

Somebody say cookie? 😮😮😮

Howdy Y’all!

lol.....good to see you buckeev!! Hope you and yours are all doing well.

Any trips on the horizon for you???

It is a little cooler today here, but another busy day for us, not quite sure what, but it`s a busy one. First stop is Kyle`s office, hand in the cookies and then we have a few things to drop off and pick up including two birthday cards and presents.

We got a wedding invite yesterday too, my best friend who passed away in 2016, one of her kids is getting married in November, he is a lovely young man and marrying a girl who is equally lovely, so we`ll be going to that for sure, now I need a new outfit for that!!! Weather will be cold so I need to think about that outfit.

Plain old croissants for breakfast, doing a stir fry for dinner tonight, so need to pick up some fresh ginger for that, I have everything else I need.

Monday again.....:-)

Howdy Schumster! Trips? Currently a Spooky “mid-October” Orlando HHN/MNSSHP trip and a WDW January Festival of the Arts trip…10th-19th…(taking the 24 y/o daughter and her California WDW ROOKIE boyfriend on DVC & SWA Points!) Also taking Gage to Milwaukee Oct 31st for a long weekend convention.
So that would be a yes. 😵‍💫
All of these are subject to change and/or cancellation…the “Dos Moms” situations are volatile. 😉

Quick Monday morning stop in :surfweb: I didn't win any lottery - so back to work I went. There was a VERY NICE Monday morning meeting :rolleyes2 this morning - ugh I really do loathe early Monday Morning meetings.

Very busy weekend. We are all caught up on our HP movies - had a movie each night over the weekend. It was great!

The house is back to normal and most corners got a tidy. Felt good to get that accomplished.

The new blinds are hung - and I LOVE them!!! I think I will scotchgard the one in my kitchen by my sink. It is close to the stove and will get icky with that cooking film...so if I can scotchgard it then give it a quick wipe once a week when I do my weekly kitchen wipe I think it will help keep it looking great. The other ones will be easy to keep clean. A quick vacuum and they will be clean ::yes::

We had incredible warm weather this weekend - so I soaked up and enjoyed all the rays I could.

Just got back from lunch - busy morning in the unit :scared: I will be glad when today is done. I'm tired of people saying this is the number they were told - when clearly they are dumb founded when I tell them this is the RadiationTherapy in the Cancer Centre :rolleyes2 You sir are just pushing whatever buttons to get to talk to someone. :sad2:

Yum!!!! My favorite meal! I have a feeling once dd and her family move back here later this fall - Sunday dinners will be all of us watching NFL - as son-in-law is a huge NFL fan.

@schumigirl I don't know where your quote went :( There are computer gremlins today. Those cookies sound divine!!!! I've chilled m dough before - but not overnight. I might have to try that and see if that makes a difference. Also, it's great you are invited to such a special wedding. There will be bittersweet moments intertwined with the happy moments.

Well, I should get going....I still have 4 new pt's that I need to fit into the schedule to start in the next 2 days.

Have a great day everyone!!!!

I didn't feel the greatest when I woke up
Pumpkin, it seems you have not been feeling too great lately? Is it the flu bug or just from working too hard? Hope you feel better soon.
Our sunset tonight is 7.33pm!!!
Oh Carole, when winter really hits here, it gets to sunset at 4:30PM! Much too early for darkness. Our daylight is really limited in the winter time which does nothing for holding my appetite back, LOL. It's so easy to watch some thing to TV and eat cookies, cakes, and snacks:)
Implant fitting went well
I'm so glad to hear that the implant is fitting well. So, all is good for your trip? The knee is better too?
Did some food prep for my sweet hubby. I have all his favorites on hand so he can enjoy his meals at leisure while I’am gone.
Robbie: I do the same thing lately since my husband isn't able to travel anymore, at least to places like theme parks. So I am taking my son this year to Universal. I also fix him what he loves, but he likes to eat out too,so he will be fine.
My sister K is going on vacation again this year with me.
Yes, like I said I'm with my son this time. Last year was with my daughter. My granddaughter chimed in that she would love to go on a trip too, However, I have 6 grandkids and 2 +one on the way great grandkids, so I don't think that will happen soon:)
Family done wore me (the mr down), we will be playing tour guides for Orlando mid October.
Kiesha you are such a good person to do all that you do. I know you have fun with the family on all these trips too. Again, thanks for the heads up on the Behind the Screams openings. We are booked and ready:)
Another quiet old day for me, my friend popped in with Elise for an hour or so, she brought nail polish for me to do my nails lol....I never put nail polish on
I know you always enjoy Elise visiting. Like you, I don't color my nails either - just too lazy to bother with it anymore.
whole house smells heavenly.
I can smell that cooking now. Sounds yummy. We had big lunches, so will just snack around tonight.
:rolleyes2 You sir are just pushing whatever buttons to get to talk to someone. :sad2:
That is so annoying isn't it! It sounds like you work at a busy cancer center. I worked hospice/home care for a few years and I absolutely loved that job. I do miss it.
We are all caught up on our HP movies
We watch the HP movies over and over. I also read the books about twice a year. HP areas are my favorite at Universal and I could spend the day in them.
watching NFL - as son-in-law is a huge NFL fan.
Yea, another football fan:) My 96 y/o Mom and I are football fanatics. We start watching the pregame broadcast at llAM on Sunday, and then games from noon thru to 10pm. Yep that's alot of football. I confess that if the game is a little boring, I will crochet or read while watching:) Since I'm in Mn. I am a Mn Vikings fan and hopefully they will finally have a good year this year.

It has been 3 Weeks!!! since my back went out of alignment. 3 weeks. I finally went to the doctor today to see if he could speed things up a bit. I got prednisone for 5 days and a RX for a muscle relaxer. Hopefully they will do the trick. He said that these things usually get better by in 5 to 6 weeks whatever we do for them. I really hope it doesn't go on that long. It is my fault that it is worse because I did something stupid. I was feeling good and hadn't seen my Mom for 3 weeks, so I drove over and took her to the store and out to eat. That was a mistake and I am back to having back pain again. I won't do that again, not til I am well healed.

So, I have read lots of books, watched lots of tv and spent lots of time on the laptop, and almost finished my crocheted top. All I have to do is sew up the sides and I will be done.

We are having a weird hot spell into the 80's for the next 6 days. I want the wonderful 70 and 60's back. The trees are finally starting to turn yellow:(

Take care everyone,

ruth

We don`t have enough nights left for all the movies, only on the 5th Potter tonight, but I think we know them by heart by now!

Glad to hear your daughter is moving back to where you live, that will be lovely having them so close, it is hard living away from family.

The chilling seems to make them chewier and more toffee flavoured somehow which is lovely, I`ll chill the dough overnight again, everyone loevs them.

We will enjoy this wedding, those kids are very special to us and yes, it will be bittersweet too.

Have a great day :)

lol....not an attempt to one up here, our sunset on December 17th this year coming will be 14.41, I think that`s the earliest it sets for us, so it will be completely dark by 3.40 or so, I just brought up the sunrise/sunset calendar out of curiosity. Sunrise will be 08.10. But, I think of that as "cosy time" yes, hot chocolates, tea, scones or yes, maybe a glass of wine for us lol.....there are benefits to every season.

Glad you made it to the Doc`s!!!! Hope you start to have less pain soon and you get back to normal, yes you`ll be fine for your trip!! All good here thanks, knee is fine and implant is brilliant too.

Enjoy that time for reading and sewing!!

I see keish popped in with the news of James Earl jones, sad to hear that news, he was an amazing actor and wicked sense of humour!!!

Amazingly busy day, got a few things sorted, a few cards and anniversary gifts given to friends, sun came out nicely this afternoon after a dreary morning, sat outside with my friend at her home with a quick cuppa, nice for this time of year, but it is getting chilly.

Saw Kyle`s office this morning, it is lovely!!! Suits him and everyone was happy to see the cookies.

Thought we might finish the Potter movies, but only tonight and tomorrow night now, Kyle is coming over Wednesday night for dinner, so we won`t be watching anything then and.....we need to pack, yes, very last minute I know.....but, it works for us.

Last hour of the movie then bed I think :)

I need to:

A. Swipe that saying
&
B. Figure out how to work it into conversation sooner vs later

Aw, that will be a special event

Not enough Tim Hortins in the world to make that go down easy. lol

It's a given here too. Admit to enjoying football far more than NHL. Hockey becomes overwhelming as season so long and a game
However, I have 6 grandkids
Hmmm maybe work your way thru the rotation, one at a time?
Again, thanks for the heads up on the Behind the Screams openings. We are booked and read
So glad it worked out for you!

That cocktail pretty much is a sure fire cure when my back issues flare up. Only issue knocks me out, lots of naps

He's moving on up! Congrats to him

lol...it`s quite easy to work that one in, just look busy and harrassed, wipe your brow with fake exhaustion and...voila......only I tend to use the real word, not the censored version!!

Yes, we are so proud of him and they just love him there, they really are the nicest group of folks.

I think the wedding will be very emotional indeed, but it will be lovely.

Now that I have caught up in the thread, think all have called it a night.

It’s too soon for me to go to bed.
Not sure if the homies on the late shift will show up here later.

Well, not sure about the late shift, but the early shift is here albeit a little later this morning!!!

Hope you sleep well mac.

Yes, slept late, but woke around 2am with the wind outside for a short time, I thought it was thunder but just a weird few minutes of gusts, then I couldn`t get back to sleep for ages. Sleeping beauty beside me never heard a thing and I was very kind and never woke him to tell him I was wide awake!!

Eventually drifted back over, but not going to be the nicest of days here, a bit breezy for sure. I think we have a few things to pick up today, not much though, doing lamb shanks tonight for dinner, will pop them in the slow cooker soon with some red wine and usual mix of ingredients, in a few hours the aroma in the kitchen will be lush!!

So, kind of half busy day and as Tom is getting the suitcases down for us today from the attic, I may even start packing a few things!

Have a lovely Tuesday :sunny:

Quick Tuesday stop in!!!

I had a busy night last night. My nail peep was able to get me in after work yesterday, so my nails are all pretty again. Then I came home and whipped up some left overs for the family. DH didn't get home from work until after 7pm last night. So whipped up his left over quickly - then sat and chatted with him about our days - then off for a quick walk. It was starting to get dark - so I did my 30 minute route.

Woke up to a CHILLY morning. It seems like that fall light switch has been flipped now. I could see my breath this morning when I was outside :cold: Now for me to get used to the cooler temps. So far the forecast for fall looks decent - but of course that could turn on a dime. I'll be acclimating to the cooler temps now - and yes, I'm a big whimp ::yes::

it seems you have not been feeling too great lately? Is it the flu bug or just from working too hard?
It must have been a flu. Dh had a bad cold/flu - and I think it was me fighting off what he had. But I am definitely feeling better now.

Yes, I'm now in our Cancer Clinic. It's getting busier, and there is a new oncologist hopefully starting late Nov/Dec. So more staff will need to be hired as well to help the influx of pt's that will be treated. I will say - that I am really liking it - it has some HARD days - but all in all - I like it.
Glad to hear your daughter is moving back to where you live, that will be lovely having them so close, it is hard living away from family.
I am beyond excited :woohoo: It will be an adjustment for them to move back - coming back to the small town. But it seems like things are easily falling into place. Son-in-law will be going back to being a sales manager at a car dealership, dd is able to keep her job and work remotely - and will have to go to the city for 3-4 days per month. They already found a spot for gd at the best daycare in the city. So once they have their house in the big city on the market - they will start looking at homes here.

It just seems like things are falling into place easily. I told dd - that if you are on the right path - things easily seem to fall into place. I think this was meant to be for them to move back here at this time.

Congrats on Kyle's new office & position and the new wheels!!!! And yes - those are definitely dark days with little light. That is reason # 239849 why I'm glad we don't live farther north!
Not enough Tim Hortins in the world to make that go down easy. lol
:rotfl: No kidding. I had a huge belly laugh when I read that. I understand why we have them at that time - but WHY WHY WHY on Monday morning :rolleyes2 And at least - have some coffee and treats for us coming to it!

Now that I have caught up in the thread, think all have called it a night.
:wave2:

Well, I should get going. I have a big to-do list today.

Have a great day everyone!!!!!!

Well, I should get going. I have a big to-do list today.

Have a great day everyone!!!!!!

I feel your pain, we have our heating on tonight, just to take that slight chill out of the house, it still does feel awfully early for cold weather though.

You must be beyond excited and happy your daughter and family will be close to you again, it is wonderful being close to family. And exciting for them too, I love househunting and I`m sure they`ll find somewhere lovely and seeing your GD more often will be the icing on the cake.

Thank you, can`t wait to see it all shiny and new in the showroom tomorrow, I love when they pull back the satin cover and reveal the car for us, always my favourite part of collecting our cars too.....classic!!

Well, seems we didn`t have as much to do today as we thought, tonight is sitting with a glass of wine watching a Potter movie.

Yes, heating is on, well it`s gone off now, house is warm enough, but nice and cosy.

Love these Potter movies, I admire JK Rowling more every time I watch them, she created something very special indeed.

I agree!!! I/We have a great love of all the movies. We just finished watching " Order of Phoenix". MY least favorite of them, so I'm looking forward to the next ones. I have a feeling we will be having a few more movie nights that the boys want to watch before our trip.

I am soooo excited for them to experience both HP areas of the parks. They are beyond excited. Watching the movies has definitely added another layer to our trip.

23 days!!!!!

Quick ck in while watching debate

Both passed our physicals today.

Spent quite a bit time outdoors today, another run of 85 degree weather 😍& sunny

GD came in first place at cross co meet today, forgot to ask her time.

Cross country is very odd to me,

they line the participants up & away they go up and over the first hill, see you later gator. Spectators stand at start/finish line Not a whole lot to actually observe. I'm sure the officials know what's going on, me not so much lol
