Some pics from my NYC trip

I’ll be here until Tuesday evening and am having a great time. I’ve met a number of cool/interesting people.

Two things of particular note:

1. Yesterday I dropped in to Caffe Reggio, my favorite NYC cafe… and also the first cafe in America to serve cappuccino. I remembered the waitress from my visit here last year. When I said hello to her, she remembered me too. That was nice… and she also spotted me a free pot of tea :-).

2. I dropped by Alicia Keys’ recording studio at noon. That was a blast. One of their consoles was purchased from Abbey Road and is believed to be the same one used to record Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon.

Some pics (note the knockoff Mickey and Minnie in Times Square).

Thanks for sharing some pictures. NYC is a city I'd like to spend some more time exploring .
It’s my favorite city in the world. I believe this is my 18th visit here. I tour the city as I tour most cities: by skate//rollerblade so I cover a lot of ground. Yesterday I went from 103rd all the way down to the West Village and about another 40-50 incidental blocks. Heading out again shortly. I’ll skate through the park down to 59th… and then I’ll see :-).

My daughter will be in NYC a couple of nights for a school trip to the East Coast. I have only been once for a glorious weekend, and I really hope she gets the travel bug with this trip. Right not she is seemingly content to stick close to home, and I would hate that for her. Thanks for the pics!

I hope she has a wonderful visit. My favorite cafe is Caffe Reggio in the West Village (on MacDougal just south of Third). I recommend it highly, if she gets the chance. I've never had their cappuccino but my brother told me that it's fantastic.

oh gosh, love NYC. Practically lived there when I had to travel back and forth every six weeks for work, once upon a time. ENJOY. Missing NYC cheesecake and bagels...not the same anywhere else.

At the airport about to leave for Chicago. A few last minutes pics. Yesterday I skated from 103rd all the way to Battery Park (the end of NYC). The Statue of Liberty to my left (as you look at the sunset pic). I went on a fun walking tour today. I always hate to leave but I’m also happy to be bound for Chicago.

Kid, your photos are FABULOUS! You have a great eye and a knack for capturing beautiful settings and items of interest. Looks like it was great weather, too!

Thanks again for sharing…

Great pix! Thx for sharing.
Makes me a bit nostalgic …but then I remember
Way too many other things ..better left unsaid. Glad u enjoyed!
Safe travels!

Halloween is still my favorite holiday. A few years ago, my (then) girlfriend and I were included in the Chicago Tribune's "Couples' Costumes" feature. I was an Oompa Loopa (obviously?) and she was either Veruca Salt or simply "candy." That was a particularly cold Halloween -- in the mid 30s, as I recall. Chicago can be a real jerk sometimes, weather-wise. Incidentally, my brother was in the middle as Elliott from E.T.

I'll be at the park on Sunday and will try to book a reservation for tomorrow. I've got a few cool costumes that I'd like to show off :-).

Thanks for the NYC pics! Haven't been since 2019...can hardly stand it. But Chicago will always have my heart as favorite city. While NYC wins in the theatre department, Chicago wins in the pace of life department. Throw in good eats and the lake, and, well, I miss it every day!
