Do not have one and have no desire to have one. I haven't known anyone in my extended family to have one.

They're not my thing. Some are pretty to look at, but still no desire to have one.

We do have a mantle clock that has never worked. It sits on its custom shelf in the dining room that was made by DH's great-great grandfather. The great-great grandparents received it as a wedding gift from their parents in the 1800s. It's a bit unclear, but we believe it was great-great grandma's parents' gift to the couple and wasn't new, but had instead been their clock and may have been in fact a wedding gift to them as well. DH's grandfather had looked into repairing the clock many, many moons ago and was told by a friend of his who did clockwork to leave it alone, so he did and we've followed suit.

I inherited a grandmother clock from my maternal grandparents. It is in my dining room. My parents have a cuckoo clock from my paternal grandparents that I have asked for.

I don't have one, but I often watch the channel that shows old Price is Right episodes and it was a common prize that made the audience, "Oooohh!" It's funny how they have fallen out of fashion. While, I do like the way they look, I cannot stand anything with a swinging pendulum - it would drive me crazy.

Never had a grandfather clock anywhere I have ever lived. I did have an Aunt with a grandfather clock though. She probably purchased it in the 1970’s? We did have a couple of cuckoo clocks in the house when I was growing up.

We have one, built from a kit by my FIL. He built it probably 50 years ago. He decided he wanted to build a fancier one, so he gave the first one to us. He lived in Texas, we live in California, so he had the cabinet shipped via a trucking company. He brought the movement with him when he drove out and assembled it. We have had it about 30 years. When I went to the shipping company to pick up the cabinet, I had a dark blue Suburban with heavily tinted windows, sort of like the Secret Service uses, or Funeral Homes.. The box, was 6 1/2 feet long and about 3 feet across. The freight company guy asked what was in the box, and I told him "a Grandfather clock"........he laughed and said "you sure it's not a Grandfather".
We also have a mantel clock that chimes every half hour, so between the two of them there is a whole lot of chiming going on in our house at Noon and Midnight in particular. The mantel clock was an antique clock given to my parents in 1950 as a wedding present. It never worked, I remember my mom taking it in to be fixed several times before she gave up. When my mom passed, my wife said she wanted to keep it and try and get it fixed. $400 later, it works perfectly. Wish my mom had found the repairman we found so she could have enjoyed it.

I don’t have one. I have friends who have one, and I do admire them.

But…

Personally, my prized clock was an American Cookoo clock. I had it for at least 40 years, and it provided that “music” in our lives for all that time. For many years I tutored in our dining room, and it was always fun when my students would hear the cookoo! Sadly, I had taken it to a repair shop that botched it, so we no longer have it.

Now, we do have a Mantel clock with chimes that Tom received at retirement!

Yes.

It was my MIL prized possession. I remember when she got it in the 70's. She wanted one her whole life. When FIL passed (she was in memory care) the 5 kids had to split up their belongings. I told DH I didn't care if they took everything else, I wanted the clock because I knew how special it was to HER! No one else cared. It stands tall in our foyer, we had it tuned up and the repair person said it was a brand/model you don't see often and gave us a value that shocked me. I'm glad to care for it for her. It will go to my DD when we are gone.

Is it a passion for me, no. But it was important to her, so important for me to care for it. Crazy part is that it seems like yesterday she got it and yet it is almost 50 years old.

Yes, I have the grandfather clock that my grandfather built from a kit 50+ years ago. He and my grandmother loved it, then my Mom. Now I love it! I had the mechanism replaced 9 years ago and it works perfectly. Love the chimes! It has a small brass plaque with my grandfather’s name and year it was built.

I have always admired grandfather clocks and wished I had the space to have one. No one in my family has ever had one. In fact…none of my friends have one too. So now I’m wondering about all of you. So give us your timely answer today…..

For Me……As I mentioned above, I don’t have one. If I had the space for one, I’d definitely like to have one.

My great grandmother had one and we called it the Hickory, Dickory Dock Clock.
My sister still has it.
My dad got my mom a Cucoo clock from Bavaria it drove us all nuts
