Yes…..today is not April 1st. I just wanted to discuss April Fools Day a day earlier, since I do the birthday poll on the first of the month. Plus, this poll may give people a nudge to think of a good prank for tomorrow.

What is April Fools Day…..

Today we’re going to discuss the pranks we’ve played on others or have been played on us. So give us your funny answer today……

Will you play a prank on someone this year?
If yes…..who will you be pranking?
Have you played a prank on someone in the past?
Have you had a prank pulled on you?
(multiple choice)

For Me…….I’m not sure yet if I’ll pull a prank on someone. If I do, it’ll definitely be on my DH or DD21. I’m pretty good at playing April Fools Day pranks - I can be pretty believable. I have had pranks played on me, and I do find them funny. My favorite prank, when my girls were in school, I’d set their clock ahead and wake them up saying they overslept - that was the one morning of the year that’d they got out of bed really fast 😂.

I may pull a one on a friend of mine it’ll be a small one
My father was a huge prankster so I’ve had a lot of pranks on me too many to even get into and it wouldn’t just be one on April Fools’ Day he would do them all day long

I have been pranked and pranked others in the past, but I will be home by myself tomorrow so no pranking this year. I try to keep pranks lighthearted because someone pranked me with a serious matter once and I still have issues from it. I would never do something like move someone’s car so they think it’s been stolen or call saying someone has been in an accident and is being rushed to the hospital, something like that. I remember one woman at my first job was pranked by someone unplugging her computer. They did it more than once, and each time she wondered what was wrong. She never did catch on that it was a prank. I thought it was cruel to keep doing it, but there was a group of “mean girls” there who didn’t care. I have filled a person’s office with balloons or wrapped their desk phone in plastic wrap, those kinds of things.

Nothing planned here.

I'm wary of pranks in general, because I think they can easily get out of hand.

But I have participated in some minor ones for April Fool's Day in the past. - I've made "dessert imposter" type snacks for DS (where you make sweets look like other foods) and the kids I was babysitting one year made me "brownies" that when I took the foil off were a plate of letter E cut-outs made from brown construction paper. 😆

I don't mind a little joke here and there, but I don't like big, elaborate pranks. I also don't like then companies throw one out there that seems real. It's one thing to post something so ridiculous that it is obviously untrue, but if it seems plausible, then it's just annoying when you find out it's not true.

My favorite prank was done in the early 90s. My Network Manager and I programmed a DOS menu to pull a prank on the Bookkeeping Manager. When she hit the option to go into her typical system, it made it look like she had access to the primary server and that she was deleting all of the user home drives. When it go to our bosses' drive, it paused, as if he had more information to delete than others. If she played it through to the end, she would have seen that it was a joke, but she didn't. She hit a key on her keyboard and it aborted the job.

She came running to my office, very upset. My Network Manager was hiding in another building and he called to see how things were going. I told him that there was a big issue. It also was Good Friday and we only had half a day that day, but he said, "it looks like we'll be here for a while." I asked to go back to her office to have her show me what she did. I let the job complete and she saw it was a joke.

I think if I brought it up to her today, she'd still be sore about it even though she can laugh about it now.

The best one I remember was when a local radio DJ announced that work was canceled for the Public Works Dept(of a major city) because of a water leak(or something) and hundreds of people took the day off 😂

Not tomorrow. I'm past the pranking phase.

Back when I briefly worked in an office, decades ago, the managers pulled a prank on the employees. They sent around a memo saying that the telephone company was going to clean the phone lines, and to put your phone in the wastebasket at a certain time, so that when the dust blew out it wouldn't go all over. I don't remember exactly how many people did it but it was enough to be funny. I didn't do it because I worked in the file room where there wasn't a phone.
