Since it comes up on a recurring basis around here, I thought I'd take @marty3d's suggestion and create a thread for ongoing sharing and discussion of runDisney-inspired tattoos.
If you have an rD or Disney tattoo, please share. Or if you're also considering one or have ideas, let's discuss!

Personally, I've been thinking about getting one for a few years now but just haven't landed on the right idea yet. Back when they had the temporary tattoo stands in the parks, I used to always get a Tink on my ankle at the start of a trip. The CM gave me a backup once (in case it didn't last and I needed to reapply it), and I still have it. I've considered having an artist just use that as a base design and maybe put running shoes on her? But I also would like to add race distances or tally marks of some kind. I just can't quite get the vision to come together in a way that Iike (yet).

I have two ideas for tattoos rumbling in my brain. One has nothing to do with rD and the other is a diamond with the purple and green for the Dopey Challenge. Below is something I found on the interwebs that is similar to what I have in my brain but I'd like to let the artist have some creative control to make it unique.

Here! I plan on getting a 48.6 on my foot at some point, maybe inside a Mickey head?
I have each of my longer distances just above my ankle. 13.1, 26.2, 39.3, 48.6. What I'm having a hard time with is what else to add- I've flirted with the idea of a small running Mickey, castle, etc but really haven't settled on anything. I've seen lots of good (and bad) rD ones on Instagram but nothing's stuck with me yet.

I've seen some nice course map tattoos as well (especially for Chicago and NYC) but the WDW Marathon course map is a little.... interesting. Like a slightly deformed cartoon character.

Oh I like this idea! I've struggled with what to do with Dopey as I dislike the character. I could also see a larger Disney design with a diamond representing that challenge, a crown for Princess, etc. I've seen a few like that that I kind of like.

I saved this one on my phone, as it would be fun to add as I do more races outside Disney. But it would require a lot of real estate!

Oh - I like those - but you're right- that's a lot of real estate! Also - not speaking from personal experience but a couple of people I know who had thigh tattoos mentioned that it hurt more than some other areas. I like the 4 parks.

I’ve considered getting a Tink tattoo on my knee at the IT band attachment. I was out of action for two years due to ITBS, and after three rounds of PT (I’m stubborn!), the 2016 Tinkerbell 10k was the first big race in my comeback. Something small, and I may not even want the silhouette filled in, but something like this.

Definitely following this one. I only ever wanted one tattoo and got that nearly 30 years ago. Then I finished Dopey and that was an immediate thought, well that was 6 years ago and I still haven’t come up with anything

I was/am afraid of needles. Always swore off getting a tattoo. Two years ago there was an active shooter incident at my campus (where I work, went to college and where my older daughter attends). There were funding raising efforts afterwards and one was to get a university themed tattoo, with all proceeds going to survivors and victims families. My daughter and I decided to get matching tattoos, so I had to face that fear - was not as bad as I thought, but not that good either!

Since then I have thought about getting a tattoo of my ranger badge and will do that at some point. But I really like the idea of a runDisney tattoo. 10 plus years running these races and closing in on 10 Dopeys, maybe something with that?

I never thought of getting a runDisney related tattoo, but now I feel like I should! I have a Star Wars tattoo on my ankle that I got 25-ish years ago, and I haven’t gotten any other ones since, so that should tell you what I felt about the process. 🤣
Now a Star Wars related one is one I’m also tempted to do! If only they would bring back the Star Wars races that would give me the right excuse!

I also have a Star Wars one -- same one as @nancipants actually! I got it a few years ago on my inner right wrist. It's a single-line rebel symbol about the size of a quarter and I love it. I also have a single-line tattoo of the Teton mountain range that's about four inches long on the outside of my left lower arm. The single-line style took far longer and hurt more than the traditional style one I did for my first (a colored in fox about 2 inches tall with a few snowflakes to honor my dog Mr Fox).

I'm just not a tattoo person, and don't see myself ever getting one.
Some years ago, I had a younger coworker ask me when I was getting tats, and my response was something like "I'm 45, divorced, overweight and losing my hair, and a tattoo is the solution for my love life? Um, no."
Not to mention, I see people that got something like their child's actual size baby feet tattooed on themselves, and years later the tattoo is still actual size for the adult child.
My fear about a course tattoo would be to get something like the ten miler map and years from now it would look like the whole marathon course.....
So yeah, just not for me, on multiple levels.

Yeah, there's definitely something to be considered about location, since some are more likely to expand (or shrink) than others through the years.
