Rise of the Resitance is most overrated ride in Orlando

Something tells me you will anyways because you secretly like it and just want to go against the grain on here for the drama.
Whatever 'something' is talking to you, that 'something' would be completely wrong in our experience! And I have no need, secretly or overtly, for social media drama..... Just out here to share info and learn things about WDW/DL. Glad you enjoy the attraction so much, though - you are not alone!

OP, you're brave for posting this. I expected that you'd get attacked for this and I was right lol I think Rise is fine.......when it works. I have yet to ride it with everything working /shrugs

When I go to DL this September, I plan on skipping it and don't even expect myself to step into Galaxy's Edge at all. There are better things to do in the park.

I always look at both sides of the argument or discussion .
I also try to use my imagination
I almost wish they had not converted the Galactic Hotel into Offices for at least one year of a special treat for Tour Guides to take guests on the transit to
Experience it with those SW Xharcter Actors giving one performance $$$

I also never “ get” the criticism for YETI on EE … I use my imagination when he is ripping up the track and attacking me with flashing lights that sure feels like he is going to grab me …Thank you Joe Rhode and Walt ( always) .

I also think they should save one , just one , original Fort Wilderness Log Cabin / Tour . The interior is amazing ..did somebody really chop down those trees to build the bunk bed and furniture? Haha
We should be demanding this as WDW Fans , etc,! And as a DVC owner …
I hope my memory never fails me and yes I have stayed in the new cabins and love them too! I am so crazy about those , if I won the lottery, one of the
Top Ten Must Dos still miss you Stacy , would be to go to Disney Paris and stay in the Davy Crockett Ranch and hope for a surprise snowfall during my stay !

I mean, some people think it's cool getting captured by stormtroopers and rescued by the Resistance, careening through a Star Destroyer, under AT-ATs and past cannons firing into space, on a vehicle driven by a droid, all while being shot at . . . but hey, if that's not your thing, you could just ride something else.

Personally I hope Disney keeps coming up with wild stuff like this though. It's the most awe-inspiring ride I've been on since getting beamed aboard the Enterprise at Star Trek: The Experience.

I remember the first time we rode it. It was closer to when it first opened and the cast members were great. The way they ushered everybody off and they were so serious and you weren’t allowed to talk and they were very intimidating. It was so much fun.

Now people stop to take selfies with the storm troopers. Or they tried joking around with the cast members. And sometimes they don’t even listen to them on where to stand and what to do. Not that we care so much now, but I feel bad for those experiencing it for the first time.

One of the last times we rode it the first shuttle or whatever you call it wasn’t working so they sent everybody down the back employee hallway to the storm troopers. That really killed the Star Wars vibe lol
That happened to us once too.
It really depends on the CMs. The one that escorted us out through the backstage area stayed totally in character barking out orders and "yelling". Made it kind of fun and totally kept everything in a SW vibe.

The good thing is that not everything is for everyone. Some folks greatly appreciate the imagineering and style of the attraction and some just don't. That is okay. Don't like something, don't waste your time. No big deal. I could probably sit on here and bash quite a few attractions and dining and shows and resorts, but popularity proves that there is something for everyone ...

Same. We also did the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas in the late 90’s. Bought my Star Trek Badge there (well, it’s really a refrigerator magnet 🙄). Was sad when it closed.

I'm o.k. with it but if I don't ride it during a visit I'm o.k. with that too. I've ridden it when the big AT-ATs were actually working and moving and that was pretty cool and I've ridden it when some of the things were not working and some were. Personally, I can do without the whole immersion thing with the CM's yelling and rushing you. I know the first time I rode it I was so confused because they were just rushing everyone from place to place and yelling. I'm one of those people who like to take my time and look at the details and boy are there some details in each and every room of that ride. You can't do that since you are being rushed from one place to another. There are trips I don't even step foot in Galaxy's Edge and there are trips that I will wander around there for a good hour or so. I don't need thrill rides, can't do them anyway so I'm fine with that. It's not for everyone and that's o.k. I'm also not a fan of MMRR but that might be because I'm still salty about TGMR and whole transforming of MGM Studios to HW Studios. I'm also a tad salty about everything now days having to be IP (don't get me started about Frozen and Remy being in WS in Epcot).

Having said that, I get that every ride is not meant to be for every person. I love Navi River Journey, most people think it's boring. I can spend hours walking the trails at AK, a lot of people just rush through them looking for the next exciting animal or thrill ride. There is enough in all the parks to attract most people.

Okay, it's off-topic but does anyone remember when the Yeti would tear up the track BEFORE you got to the part in the ride where it looks like you're about to go up onto the broken track, and then you go backwards? Now they show him tear up the track after you get to the broken track.

Coming from someone who wishes desperately that Galaxy's edge was Tatooine replete with all things original trilogy, I have to say I'm a sucker for Rise. One of the only rides I don't mind standing in the queue as it is themed better than most rides. I love it. You don't. Next person feels meh...next person feels WOW...next person "I only want a Ronto Wrap"....next person "let's get out of here and go eat at Pizzerizzo"...next person etc etc.

I think standing in line for an hour and a half for Peter Pan is insane and not worth it but sometimes I end up doing it just because "I have to". One of Disney's greatest strengths lies in the mantra "To each it's own".

Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion, but the things you disliked the most (not being a thrill ride and not having any old Star Wars) are things everyone already knows about the ride. It doesn't advertise to be these things so it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that it isn't.

I was not referring to your post... I don't doubt there are people that don't care for the ride.
Personally I don't care for FOP or Rat but similarly to you I'm not creating a whole thread about it.
The creating of a controversial thread is what makes it dramatic.

I have no interest in Star Wars and think the entire land is a huge waste of space, and shouldn't have ever been built at Disneyland at all.
But I do enjoy RotR, I think it's fun and extremely immersive.
If we're talking about overrated rides, that trophy to me goes to Soarin'

Different strokes for different folks.

-I love it.
-My DH just rode it for the first time and he liked it, and he’s not even a Star Wars guy (he has seen the original 3)
-My DD21, who has never seen a Star Wars movie, likes it.

I am always in awe of those that create everything at WDW and others Disney Parks (we’ve only been to WDW). The creativity to make this ride and others completely blows my mind. I just look around everywhere when doing Rise and soak it all in.

I have never been more disapointed in a ride.

There is almost zero thrill factor except that one tiny drop. The ride vehicle is really dull. Remys was even more fun and thats pretty disapointing as well. At times it feels like you are on a slow moving tea cups ride.

The sets are big but mostly static. Very little movement. They arent game changing. Feel like some screens as background could of brought some life to it.

Nothing on old star wars. Kylo ren just isnt interesting. Why oh why is there no original characters.

They dont even do star wars music in the background to get you in the vibe.

Ive done it twice now. Zero interest in ever doing it again. It was just a boring ride.

Why does this get so much praise? I cant be the only one confused by this?

The guardians of the galaxy roller coaster ride should of been the e ticket stars wars ride. How amazing would of that been.
I wouldn’t necessarily compare guardians to rise as they are two totally different things imo as one is an immersive attraction and the other is a well themed roller coaster. Just curious what you think your all time best attraction (not roller coaster) is?

We love it, but we never thought of it as a "ride" so we never expected a roller coaster. We knew it was more of an experience. I think it just depends on each person.

My favorite part is not even on the ride, it's the room with the Storm troopers. LOL The ride is OK and only if the wait is not long. I totally understand trying it again and giving it a second chance, and not making a judgement on just a single experience.

My whole family always have smiles plastered on our faces as we’re getting off RoR. That’s what it is all about to me. You can feel the soul poured into thousands of details. It’s inspiring. On one of earliest rides we got off and saw the moon in the afternoon sky. Was perfectly surreal, seeing the moon from a different planet. RoR can transport if you let it.

I would not say most overrated but I expected more.

It is not a must ride attraction for us anymore, and sometimes we will actually swap the ILL to another ILL on the day of the visit
