Attack of the Lakeshore Lodge

People keep saying this but it seems like the cabins and the old river country site aren’t *that* close. For perspective, can someone tell me if the distance is similar to say, the treehouses and the rest of SSR?
I'm not an expert on that matter, but not sure if distance matters with the new Trust. They could place both FWC and REF in same trust, and inhibit resale owners. Although bought direct, I'm not thrilled with idea of linking a resort I absolutely don't want to stay at with one I potentially would love, seems like my options would be greatly reduced unless they continued to add other desired resorts

That would be awesome.

I still think it’s gonna be the FW cabins + Disneys Lakefront Lodge as one DVC resort, and not bookable for resale owners.

My prediction for the distant future is that the monorail eventually gets retired and replaced with more boats plus a skyliner, with WL and FW on the route as well.
That would appear to the the likely direction. All our points are direct so that wouldn't stop us from staying.. just don't like being bundled with FWC.

I'd absolutely hate to see monorail go, and would hope and pray that's not true. Expand skyliner, sure... but at least keep the monorail loop.

They are literally next to each other...in fact, in the original reflections prep they I believe the modified/rebuilt part of the tri-circle D ranch area to make way for part of the Reflections resort development.

For perspective, it's half a mile from the south-eastern most section of the Treehouse lodges to the Saratoga Springs main pool. It's about .35 a mile from Loop 100 of the Cabins to the originally proposed Reflections site. By comparison, it's about 1.5 miles from the originally proposed Reflections site to the Wilderness Lodge main building (probably only a mile to the eastern most CCV Cabins).

Here is a map for better perspective.

No to be picky, but there are only two 100 loop cabins. The rest are Loop 2200-2800, which are further away. On quick google maps measurement, about .9 miles the way the crow flies from roughly the center of the 2200-2800 loops to the center of the Reflections site.

I agree FW itself is right up against the Reflections site and it makes all the sense for them to be connected in some way, but the majority of the cabins themselves aren’t exactly ‘close’, without a golf cart.

No problem being picky....but what is the point? Let's put it this way, the original Reflections construction site is closer to Hoop-de-doo and the "Fort Wilderness Boat Launch" than 70% of the FW Resort loops (and everyone considers both of those as part of the Fort Wilderness Resort). The 100-700 loops would likely be closer to the Reflections pool than the Ft. Wilderness Rec Area. Nothing at FW is "exactly close" without a golf cart.

I'm not saying they'll be lumped together, but the idea that they are too far apart just doesn't hold weight with me given the reality of that overall site.

I agree with you on that point - I’m not swayed by the distance argument either. It’s part of the beauty of how FW functions (in my opinion).

I think what you're not understanding about the fort is that all those loops you are mentioning are strictly for RVs and tents. The cabins (DVC & cash) are the farthest things from Reflections site/Settlement/boat launch.

For those that have a good spatial understanding of the Reflections site - will a tower be visible from everywhere in Wilderness Lodge?

I understand that....but again, everyone considers the Boat dock, Circle-D and Hoop-dee-doo as part of the Fort Wilderness Resort (and part of the things accessible to the cabins)....the Reflections site is no further away.

I'm so excited! Now the question is if they are sticking with the original concept, or if they are changing the concept (which sometimes they are wont to do when they can a project and restart it. Art of Animation was originally intended to be an extension of Pop Century, after all. Hence why the bridge is called the Generation Gap.)

Yes, I'm wondering whether it will become DVC-only or remain a DVC/hotel combination as originally presented. I just hope they make some announcement sooner rather than later, so that Reflections doesn't end up being like BLT was, with the guides having to say "What tower next to the Contemporary?" with a straight face when it was under construction.

Yeah, that’s what I’m interested in seeing - all DVC or hotel/DVC combo.

My guess is this whole thing ends up being exactly as originally conceived.

Right?

As long as it has a Wilderness theme and a lazy river, I'm in.
I'm hoping it keeps the feel of a mini-waterpark / River Country feel, though. It would tie in nicely to the theming in the cabins, and I just want another resort with the Lazy River.

I like Beach Club (and stay there pretty regularly when my BFF and I go down for a long weekend escape), but I live in MA, and a Cape Code themed resort -- while spot on with the theming -- is not exactly escaping from home. :)

Yes, I’d love to stay at such a resort! I wouldn’t want to own there and have to pay dues to support that lazy river, though!

My BCV dues are not astronomical and they partially (along with BC & YC) fund SAB. Depending on whether 'Reflections' has a hotel component or was tied into an existing resort (like CCV) the dues may not be too bad. Just my opinion.

Hopefully you’re right, for buyers of Reflections!

If they tie it to CFW it'll help the cabins' dues but probably not be so beneficial for REF. Lots to think about. If they actually are planning on expanding Wilderness, that is enticing though, irregardless of it being REF or not.

I love how in a few weeks the discussion has gone from this is CCV2, to it's just about the work on the Cabins, to Reflections is back......

Anything that gives love to the WL/Cabins area and brings in more stuff there is a win for us (we love WL and CCV/BRV). I just hope Disney steals "my idea" and decides to recycle the items they are taking out of MK and use it for something awesome at the resort(s). Build it between WL and Reflections/The Cabins and I wont even care if my CCV dues goes up a bit to have access to it.
