We are heading to WDW in late September. Our flight time got moved super early and it's doubtful our room at SSR will be ready. So we decided to add on waterparks and more to our tickets.

We are going to head to Typhoon Lagoon after dropping out stuff off at the resort. We will not arrive at opening and it will be a Sunday. We will have stuff like my husband's wallet and my purse, generally we leave that stuff in the hotel but we won't have a room yet. We are torn between renting an umbrella or renting a beachcomber shack. We will at least do the umbrella but wondering if the shack would be a better option? It is just the two of us, both adults in our 50s. I just need shade occasionally.

I read through the other posts but I am just looking for more recent experiences.

You don't need to rent either to find shade in the water park. You just might not find it in an ideal location. We've never done the umbrellas but have done the shacks and we love the shacks. We are a party of typically 6-8 when we go but if I was just a party of two I wouldn't rent anything. The shack is really expensive for such a small party.

The last two trips to Typhoon Lagoon we have rented umbrellas. We were a party of 4, it was the best decision we have made when going, as we typically go during the busy season. It allowed us a bit more space between the folks next us and guaranteed us some shade. It also provided an opportunity to relax more on a down day during our Disney vacation.

Umbrella is $30 to rent and requires a $50 deposit. I rented one for our visit last week as the sun was stupidly hot and shade was limited.

Baulked at the cost, but it was better than sunstroke!

We've never gotten the umbrellas but got a shack on our last visit - loved it! There was a torrential downpour the day we went and we simply enjoyed our space while the storm passed. Not cheap, but definitely a nice place to chill while you are waiting for your room to be ready.

Daughter and I will be winging it and choosing Typhoon spur of the moment and wondering about availability of umbrellas last minute? It will be early October. I definitely would like the umbrella. Will there be transportation from the Music Resort? Can we buy the Water Park ticket at Music Resort? Is the umbrella rental a purchase at the Water Park first come first serve or can we do that if we can buy the WP ticket at the resort? Thanks for all your info! Appreciate it, since we haven't been to a water park since 2011! LOL

Hi - buses to Typhoon Lagoon go via Disney Springs. Get the bus from Music to Springs, then change for the Typhoon Lagoon bus.

Ticket - you can buy on the gate at Typhoon Lagoon.

Umbrellas are first come first served.

Have fun!

Thank you so much! It's been long time! Lots of relaxation on this much needed trip!

There is no way we'd rent a shack for just 2 ppl. Honestly late September and only 2 ppl. you really don't need to spend extra money to rent anything but if you do for sure do the umbrella. It's more reasonable for 2 ppl. AND you'll get actual loungers so you'll be able to nap if you want. - The shacks don't have loungers. - We've rented shacks and they're nice to have, but we only do that when we have a larger party.

We were there the week of Labor Day and arrived at TL around lunchtime. The "free" umbrellas and chairs in shaded areas were plentiful at this time of the year-middle of the summer is usually different. Lockers are the safest option for items of value. Disney does provide transportation via transfer at Disney Springs but we chose to use LYFT for a quicker and warmer (Disney busses are COLD when you are wet) option. It was around $8.00 each way.
