Remy Single Rider open

I am here today:

Rode Remy as a single in the afternoon and they were doing feedback surveys about the experience. When I spoke to them I said there was a lack of communication to the standby line that all available seats would be filled and it made the situation awkward. Like I sat with the grandparents of a party of five and the son did not look impressed until I helped his Dad out of the mouse at the end of the ride.*

* Small edit. The grandparents were perfect ride companions. They were audibly enjoying themselves and it made the experience better. It was like riding with my own parents.

When I went back in the evening there was a coordinator doing the assigning and loudly announcing the singles so was a less awkward situation. I think he was there to do some visual training of the CM on how to assign with the new situation.

I’ve noticed they’ve definitely improved training on this type of thing the past couple of years. Safari, Runaway Railway, and Navi River Journey are the ones that come to mind, where the CMs assigning rows almost always tell us we will either be joining another group of two or will be joined by another group (sometimes they go so far as to say “you’ll be riding with that person in the red sweatshirt” for example). This is so helpful in managing expectations from the start. Slinky is the only ride I regularly have awkward encounters on as a solo traveler, as I swear I always get put with odd numbered families that aren’t thrilled I’m there.

As a solo rider on rides without single rider (aka almost every ride) we wait in line like everyone else and then get put with strangers on almost every ride (which is why I find it hilarious when groups complain about having solo guests added to their row, as if we solo riders don’t deal with that on almost all rides).

That said, I didn’t bother with the Remy single rider line this trip. I’m a small enough person but being put with a couple in such a small vehicle…agh. I can’t imagine being put with a stranger on Big Thunder for example  If the seat dividers were still there I’d feel much better about it. When I went to Tokyo Disney this year almost all of the ride benches had little seat dividers and it was wonderful.

I may give it a go in future trips, though more likely I’d use a LL and then probably be joined by single riders which is totally cool with me!

I have always had my own row on Living with the Land, Na'vi, Pirates, BTMRR, Peter Pan, HM, Splash Mtn (haven't been since it switched to Tiana), TSMM, Buzz, and up to this point MMRR and Remy.

Haven't heard complaints on Slinky, EE, GotG, 7DMT, or Test Track. Honestly I don't care if they aren't thrilled.

Na’vi I get put with other people all the time if I’m solo, it seems to be three per row. MMRR is four or even five per row and people are not looking happy when their family of three is told to move over to make room for a group of two.

I had a family refuse to let me on as a SR on Remy today. The CM was very sweet and tried but they weren’t having any of it. I told her it wasn’t worth it and I was happy to wait for another opening. She seemed relieved and it was clear to me that the CMs have not had enough support provided regarding how to handle this type of situation.

I wish they put singles together on Midway Mania. The game is so much easier when you have a partner. Met and got talking to a family of 3 the other day in line. When we got to the CM the Dad said four and I rode with him and got my best score ever by a wide margin.

Disney gets lax on this and it will turn into the Guardians situation where by the last pre-show room people just push open the doors and walk out because #NoConsequences

Are people doing this? That's not okay. I swear, the sense of entitlement sometimes....

Anyone know if they will let us squeeze 4 into a row if it's 2 adults and 2 small children ages 9 & 5? I'd really rather do that then be smushed next to strangers.

Yes. Saw it for the first time on my Nov trip after having read about it here. Whole group of folks, like 10 or so just pushed through the doors of the last room instead of waiting through the show.
They should line up CMs across the door and prevent people from doing that.

Single rider line didn’t open until 10:30, we tried earlier and were told the time. We went back later and basically walked right on. Love that they have it now!

Does anyone know if the single rider line is ever open during"Early Opening for resort guests"?
