Anyone got an easy recipe for tater tot casserole they'd like to share? I have tots, shredded cheddar, cream of mushroom soup, and hamburger meat. Well else do I need and how do I make it? :dance3: Thanks!

Tater Tot Casserole

Recipe By :Jon Shaw
Serving Size : 0 Preparation Time :0:00
Categories : Casseroles

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
1 pound ground beef
1 can cream of chicken condensed soup -- (10.75 ounces)
1 can cream of mushroom condensed soup -- (10.75 ounces)
1 1/2 cups milk or sour cream or mixture of the two
1 pound tater tots
1/4 pound Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese

Preheat oven to 375 F.
Brown ground beef in medium saucepan. Drain.
Add soup and milk (and seasonings, if desired). Mix together and heat on medium-high setting. Stir frequently to avoid scorching. Add 3/4 of cheese and continue to stir until cheese has melted.
In 9 x 13-inch baking dish, arrange tater tots in single layer on bottom.
Pour soup mixture over the top, spreading evenly over all tater tots. Sprinkle remainder of cheese over the top.
Bake for 25 30 minutes or until centre is bubbly.

My recipe is a little different, but my family loves it.

1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 can cream of whatever soup (I prefer chicken, but anything will do)
Shredded Cheddar cheese, to taste. The recipe actually calls for 2 cups, but we are kind of cheesy people and I tend to add more than 2 cups.
Tater Tots

Brown the beef and onions. Drain the fat. Add the soup & cheese to the pan until it is all melty. Put into a casserole dish and top the mixture with the tots. Bake at 350 for about 30-45 minutes until all bubbly. Again, we are cheesy and I usually reserve a bit of the cheese to add to the top of the tots right before I take it out of the oven. Again, let that get all melty.

Yummm. I wish it was not so hot, it makes me want to have it...

Yummm! Thank you both so much for the recipes :cool1: I know what we are having for supper tonight. :teeth:

Tater Tots Hot Dish

1 lb hamburger, browned & drained
½ lb peas, frozen
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of celery soup or
1 can cream of mushroom soup
½ c milk
Tater Tots

Layer bottom of pan with ground beef & then layer peas over the beef. Whisk together soup & milk, then pour over peas. Cover with Tater Tots. Bake at 350 for 45 min in an uncovered pan.

I brown either 1 pound of ground beef or ground chicken with onion. Add 1 can cream of chicken soup and mix. Top with tater tots and bake in a 350 degree oven for about an hour covered.

Don't laugh but my question is are the tater tots frozen?? As you might guess I am not that great at cooking!! :confused3

Actually Hallie615, I forgot to mention that we've been using something other than the trademarked Tater Tots....which are rather fatty. They're wonderful, but I hadn't realized how much fat we've cut out of our diets until I made this again for the first time in a couple years. LOL

We used to use the traditional ones, but also used the ones that are shaped more like coins....sorry, I don't know what they're called. But they're frozen & by Ore-Ida.

More recently we discovered a new kind of potatoe nugget thingy. What's inside is more like mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, I don't have any up here in the freezer right now & can't think what they're called. I'll ask DH for you later...he might remember. I like them much better than the Tots...my kids still prefer the Tots, but don't complain about these.

By any chance have you figured out what kind of tots you use?? I might try to make this during the week.

We checked in the big freezer in the basement & there weren't any there either. :( I'm certain they were in a blue bag, so they were either McCain's or the Giant store brand. DH did check at the store for me over the weekend, but they were out of them! :(

I wanted to me this tonight but was out of any cream soups
I ended up using 1 pk golden gravy mix, 1 cup water and 1 cup sour cream.
It was really good.
