Hello fellow readers!

This is a thread for us to discuss the books we read in 2025. If you would like to make a goal for how many books you will read this year, please post that as well. I can't commit to updating the thread like @willowsnn3 has in the past, but I enjoy having a place to get book recommendations and see how my fellow readers are doing for the year.

So, to get things started, I have a goal of 32 books for 2025. I had the same goal for 2024, and actually surpassed the goal by a couple of books. This year may be busier with a new baby due in June, and also some changes at work. But I am going to try and hit at least 32 books again this year.

Happy reading everyone!

Thank you for asking! I also get recommendations from the thread. It’s fine to keep track of our own books. I will set 50 as my goal. I have some health issues to deal with, and not sure I will be able to concentrate.

Congratulations on your new baby.

30 books for my 2025 goal

I surpassed my goal of 30 books in 2024, but I decided to keep this year at 30 books, too. A lot of my books were Agatha Christie books, and those tend to be a quick read. I plan to expand my selections a little more this year.

:)

I'm in for 32 books this year again.

I already read my first one yesterday.
1/32 - The Ex Talk - by Rachel Lynn Solomon - 4 stars. It was very predictable, but a very cute story.

I don't really have a set goal of how many books I want to read. It feels like pressure to me to set a number lol, but that's awesome for those of you who do it.
I finished A Happier Life, by Kristy Woodson Harvey yesterday. I would give it 4 stars.
I don't always tell people what I am reading, for fear of judgement. Like I plan to read the Gypsy Rose memoir, but only if the local library has it. I won't pay to read it.

I'll set my goal at 56 this year. I surpassed my goal of 52 last year, read 59. This year I've already finished one (finished New Year's Day), so I feel comfortable splitting the difference between my goal and my actual at 56. Thanks-I also enjoy getting book reviews here.

I watched a bunch of the Gypsy Rose episodes. Unfortunately I went from having so much sympathy for her to not really supporting her. So I decided not to read the book because I felt guilty about not supporting her. Let us know how the book is-if it makes me support her again, maybe I'll read it.

Thank you for keeping the reading thread going!
I also like it mostly to get book recommendations. I’ll set my goal for 30 again.

1/30 Natural Selection by Elin Hilderbrand

Short story about a woman who finds herself after her boyfriend bails on their trip to the Galápagos. This author can be hit or miss with me but I liked this one and it was a good length.

I always follow this thread and get recommendations from it but I never post. I'll try to be better about posting this year. Last year my goal was 104 (2 per week), setting the same goal for this year. I go through spurts of reading a ton and not reading at all. I also listen to audio books while I do things around the house and in the car.

1/104: You Can't Have it All: The Basic B*!tch Guide to Taking the Pressure Off by Stassi Schroeder: 2.5/5

I love reality TV and I've read her other books but I don't think this one was meant for me (I'm way out of the age range) but some parts were entertaining and I can see it would be good for younger women and women with children.

Thank you!
I am lowering my goal to 24 this year. Only 2 per month & see how that goes.
Again, thank you.

Thank you for hosting this thread for 2025. I got a lot of good recommendations last year and discovered a couple new authors. I will keep my goal at 30 again this year. I have been reading a lot of very long novels. Happy reading 📚!

I was sick over the holidays so got lots of reading done. Book #3 I will finish today.

2/104: Everybody Knows by Jordan Harper
Mystery/Thriller about a woman who works for a black bag "clean up" PR firm in LA. It was very good but kind of gory in places. Also trigger warning that it includes a lot of dark subjects. 3⭐

3/104: Four Season in Rome a Memoir by Anthony Doerr
I love his books, my favorite book (All the Light we Cannot See) is by him. This is a short story about when he won a literary prize and lived in Rome for a year. It's interesting but not quite what I was expecting, I was expecting more "Rome" and less literature but still worth the read. 2.5⭐

2/32 - The House of Eve by Sadeqa Johnson - I really liked this one.

1950s Philadelphia: fifteen-year-old Ruby Pearsall is on track to becoming the first in her family to attend college. But a taboo love affair threatens to pull her back down into the poverty and desperation that has been passed on to her like a birthright.

Eleanor Quarles arrives in Washington, DC, with ambition and secrets. When she meets the handsome William Pride at Howard University, they fall madly in love. But William hails from one of DC’s elite wealthy Black families, and his parents don’t let just anyone into their fold. Eleanor hopes that a baby will make her finally feel at home in William’s family and grant her the life she’s been searching for. But having a baby—and fitting in—is easier said than done.

With their stories colliding in the most unexpected of ways, Ruby and Eleanor will both make decisions that shape the trajectory of their lives.

I will go with 25 again. I will probably read a lot of novellas on the kindle as I am starting chemo pills in Feb. and don’t know what my concentration will be like.

1/32 - Tooth and Claw by Craig Johnson

Description:
"Tooth and Claw follows Walt and Henry up to Alaska as they look for work after they both returned from serving in Vietnam. While working for an oil company in the bitter cold of winter, they soon encounter a ferocious polar bear who seems hell-bent on their destruction. But it’s not too long until they realize the danger does not lurk outside in the frozen Alaskan tundra, but with their co-workers who are after priceless treasure and will stop at nothing to get it."

This is a novella and part of the Longmire series. I really liked this suspenseful story, and look forward to the next full-length Longmire novel coming out in a few months.
