Get a look into Walt Disney’s love for trains and discover the impact it had on the Disneyland Resort. On this eye-opening, 90-minute tour sure to delight both Disneyland fans and railroad enthusiasts alike, you’ll:

  • Snack on a Treat
Enjoy a sweet pastry to steam power your journey through Disneyland Park.
  • Step into the Past
Walk through the park listening to stories about where the idea behind Walt’s train creations first started. Understand the impact trains had on Walt Disney’s dreams—from animation and film all the way to the theme parks.
  • Learn About the Disneyland Park Roundhouse
This is where the magic happens for the historic Disneyland Railroad system—where the trains are kept overnight and cared for. You’ll learn about the building and the engineers that look after the Disneyland Monorail and trains.
  • Take a Special Ride
During your guided tour, climb aboard Disneyland Railroad’s special Presidential Car, the Lilly Belle. Take the scenic route along the Rivers of America to see landscapes inspired by 4 of America’s majestic rivers: the Mississippi, the Columbia, the Missouri and the Rio Grande. Each are carefully recreated, complete with indigenous rock formations, natural forests, wildlife and 5 picturesque waterfalls. Riding in the Lilly Belle is dependent on weather and availability.
  • Meet a Train Engineer
Take advantage of a special opportunity to interact with a train engineer and hear about the unique relationships they have with the Disneyland trains.
  • Enjoy a Special Keepsake
A memento to remember your tour is included.

This looks awesome! I'm not usually tempted by the tours but I like the sound of this one. Any idea of the cost?

This is great news! Last year, it was often too hot to get to ride in the Lilly Belle, according to one of the tour guides. Now I need to figure out a day that I can get up there.

So happy this is back! I was able to take a ride on the Lilly Belle years ago, when my best friend worked the trains as an attractions CM. For any Disney or history buff, it is such a unique experience.

Oh my, we did the equivalent tour at WDW in 2010. I’d love to do this one at DL! Thanks!

This looks awesome. Does anyone know what time of day the tour is offered? DL website doesn't say.
If it's similar at all to the other tours it might be morning (9am) or afternoon (12pm)? Just a guess. Pick the earlier since when it gets too hot you can't ride in the Lily Belle.

The tour does not visit the Roundhouse.

  • Enjoy a Special Keepsake

Keepsake is a print of the railroad map that hangs in the Main Street Station.

Last year Disneyana had a custom frame for the print (spotted this in August 2024)

(sorry about the reflections)

I just copy and pasted what was on the website. They updated the wording a bit. Now it says:

All Aboard!

Catch a Rare Glimpse of the Disneyland Park Roundhouse
This is where "the magic happens" for the historic Disneyland Railroad system and it's not typically viewed by the public. You'll learn more about the engineers that look after the Disneyland Monorail and trains.

This sounds awesome!! I went on a similar tour several years ago and it was wonderful.

Shortly after Covid, they let you go across the tracks to the little station house in NOS. The guys out there were happy to chat and let us look inside.

Oh how fun! That's definitely a neat memory to have now. Since they actually just recently demo'd that building. A small part of it caught fire a year or so ago, and I guess it wasn't worth trying to salvage. :(

Oh gosh, I didn't realize that! That's so sad.

Does anyone see dates before March 21?

Sad to think the tour may be offered only after our upcoming trip. 😥

Unfortunately, I don't think it starts until March 21.
