In Love with Be Our Guest...
While I'm in love with a vast majority of things Disney; I am always willing to offer a bit of "constructive" criticism when the opportunity arrises
. However in the case of Disney's newest Fantasyland restaurant I only have loads and loads of love to offer. I think that it is positively a wonderful, immersive themed dining experience.
The Beast's Castle (which houses Be Our Guest) provides a sort of anchor to the new Beauty and the Beast section of New Fantasyland does a pretty amazing job of replicating the castle in the movie... you approach the castle via a bridge with gargoyles...
David looks sad like the gargoyle...
We had planned to eat lunch here since we hadn't gotten an ADR for dinner... lunch is Counter Service but totally unlike any counter service you've experienced before. They start serving at 11... and assuming that there would probably be a crowd... we went over around 10:40... and line was building about 1/2 across the bridge...
going in
It felt like they were letting people in to the castle in groups of 50-60... By about 11:10... we were IN...
Since at lunch it's counter service... you pass through a hall with armor... very cool detailing until you reach the order kiosks... where you place your order...
After you've ordered you are given a rose by a CM that signals to the servers that bring out your food where you are located...
There is seating in three rooms...
The largest is the ballroom and on either side of it are the library and the forbidden West Wing room...
The food was great...
Eric had Braised Pork (Coq Au Vin style) - eight-hour slow-cooked pork with mushrooms, onions, carrots and bacon served with mashed potatoes and green beens jardiniere
David had the Grilled Steak Sandwich - with garlic butter spread and pommes frites
Wanting something lighter, I had the Quinoa Salad - with green beens, potatoes, olives, roasted bell peppers and tomatoes
Eric and I split a lemon meringue cupcake that was also very tasty...
The food was good, the atmosphere amazing... I can only imagine at night that it would be very magical with everything lit up, tables set with servers and the Beast making an appearance...
But...
I really loved the Counter Service as well... the kiosk ordering was really cool, getting the tracking rose...& it's quite nice how they bring your food out to you on trolleys...
Either way... I think that BOG is an awesome addition to the dining choices and we will DEFINITELY be going back...
