Questions about Story Book Dining at Artist Point

Hello everyone,

Our upcoming Disney trip is getting close (Feb 2025). We were able to snag a reservation at Artist Point since my wife as begging me forever to eat there.
I have a few questions:

1. Our reservation will be on a Sunday night, 650pm. At that day, we will be at MK. What time do we need to leave MK to be there on time for our reservation? What is the safest route? the MK boat?

2. How long does the dinner take? 90 min? Probably we won't be able to make it back on time for fireworks, which is fine, since we will be going again to MK on Wednesday for EEH

3. On the menu, it says "fish of the day" for both kid's and adult's entree. Is it usually Salmon? The only fish my kids eat is Salmon. If it is not Salmon, do they usually have that as an alternative for picky eaters?

4. We usually don't eat desserts after dinner because we are usually full from appetizers and entrees. Is it ok to take whatever is left of dessert home to eat later at the hotel? Or is that frowned upon? I am not talking about asking EXTRA and then take home, but just taking whatever dessert is left at the table home.

5. We are going to be at Boardwalk Villa. What would be the most effective way to get back to hotel from WL? A bus to Epcot or HS?

Thanks!!

I think it took us between an hour and 90 minutes, I don't remember. They were really good about making sure the characters came through, and they'll tell when it's your time to meet the evil queen.

I'm sure the fish of the day changes seasonally, there must have been a reason I didn't order it when we ate there as I usually eat fish but maybe I was just in the mood for prime rib? I can't even remember what my kids ate. I think one got the prime rib and one might have just eaten the mac and cheese side dish.

My husband was less than thrilled with the food there (he doesn't like fish and can't eat a ton of red meat) so he ended up getting something at roaring forks afterwards.

You probably could take the desserts back with you but I don't remember them being huge.

If would take the bus to DHS and boat or walk, Epcot only makes sense if you have park hoppers.

I will just note that we have eaten here twice and enjoyed it both times. The second time I made comment to our server about how good a few of the appetizers were and she said “oh let me get you more”. Apparently if you ask they will bring additional appetizers.
Both times we were there the fish was a white fish, don’t remember what but it wasn’t salmon.
I had the pork shank the second time and saw a plate of prime rib go by with these huge pop overs and I mentioned to our server again that those looked amazing. In a few minutes she was back with one for each of us.
The desserts are served as small plates and pieces of chocolate served from a box for show. I’m optimistic that if you asked to take the dessert home they would help but like someone else said they aren’t huge but they seem to have been very accommodating both times we ate there

There’s also a bus from MK to WL, so you can take bus or boat. I like the boat, and I’d be at the dock at least an hour before my ADR, just in case of delays getting on the boat. If you arrive at WL early, you can walk around the beautiful lobby or enjoy a beverage at the Territory Lounge.

I’d bus to DHS and then walk, boat, or Skyliner back to BWV, assuming that DHS is still open when you finish your meal. If it’s closed, Disney transportation won’t take you there from WL. A bus to Epcot would take you to the front of Epcot, and then you’d have to have valid park admission and walk all the way through it and out the IG to get to BWV. Also, there’s the same concern about Epcot’s closing time.

Transportation runs from MK for an hour or so after it closes, so a return to MK and bus to BWV from there is probably your best route home. If you finish eating too late for that, then you’re looking at bus from WL to DS and a transfer at DS to the BW bus. Or rideshare/taxi.
