I always recommend arriving 45-60 minutes before show time.
You will not be limited to arriving at 8:25.
If you want a better choice of seats, arrive between 8:00-8:15 for a 9:00 show.

You will simply walk into the theater, choose your seats and sit and wait for the show.
There is a "pre-show" (such as it is) that starts about 8:30 that can help pass the time.

45 minutes before show time would not be too early.

(And, on some busy nights, arriving less than 30 minutes before show time could be too late.)

What Robo said. 45 min- 1 hour. Last time I was at Fantasmic a couple weeks ago the dining package area was nearly completely full 30 min prior to show time
