PTParaD TRs and Shenanigans

The trenches continue. All the septic, propane, and electric runs are done. The water line has a way to go. Garage doors are supposed to be here Monday or Tuesday and possibly concrete before the end of the week.

Since the new shed is on top of the old garden, it's time to get a new garden going. We chose an area with plenty of room. We marked out a 50x50 footprint and put our new tiller to work. f4225163-fdb5-4246-aab5-0928dd810e7a-1_all_98257.jpg

Need to work it up a few more times and then we'll work on leveling and fencing it up before planting time.

Jack,

I see on the football schedule this fall that Army is coming down to Alabama to play UAB (University of Alabama-Birmingham) as they are both in American Conference. The game is on October 4. I'd like to go to an Army game this close to me and who knows when these two teams will cycle back around on the schedule down here.

Bama plays Vanderbilt here at home that same day. I wish Bama was on the road when Army was at UAB but being a host home close to the stadium with 4 season tickets means I'm feeding, watering, and (often) sheltering guests during Bama home games. But I'll wait to see the game times and maybe I can counter-commute against the Bama game day highway traffic and do it (just like going to the game at Michie Stadium which DS2 and I did in, what, 2022). I'll buy an Army t-shirt, take my black-n-gold shaker I still have from when Connecticut went to Army, and cheer for the patriots. Hope I can work it out.

You've made amazing progress on your building over the winter. Just make sure to leave a 30A plug if you can for us little guys.

Ed,

We have plans to go to Army's first game at Kansas State, DW's alma mater. It'll be a tall order for Army, but regardless it'll be a fun game with Fort Riley next door to KSU. Lots of Army fans will be in the mix.

As for the shed, the concrete went down on Thur inside. The weather looks crummy for a bit to get the driveway in. Regardless, getting very close to the camper having a roof very soon.

I'm looking forward to the first guest hitting the hookups, 30A or otherwise.

Getting close. The electrician is nearly done. The bathroom is framed and drywalled. Waiting for the plumber/mechanical dudes to get out to plumb the bathroom, finish in the sewer dump, connect gas lines, and install the furnace. At some point the excavator has to come back out to finish grade around the building and drive.

The front is looking good. I'll probably put cars in it for the first time this weekend. The driveway isn't completed. We will connect it to the existing drive after another project that will have big trucks in and out so we don't beat up something brand new.

The guest RV hookups are in place. Ed's 30A is all ready to go.

Looks great! Are you going to keep it heater all winter or do you have a way to winterize it?

We will connect it to the existing drive after another project that will have big trucks in and out so we don't beat up something brand new concrete.
Do I see a pool coming in the future? 😄

Jim,

It will be heated to a low temp (mid 50s) through the winter. On cold snaps might need to put a heater in the bathroom and run the RV furnace, but no winterizing planned ever again.

NO pool. I have enough things to maintain. We're planning to do some house renovations shortly and we'll have lumber trucks and lifts ripping around.
