What are the pros and cons to drinking sparkling water? I have the brand AHA in my fridge to drink occasionally. The label says zero everything: calories, sugars, fruit juice, sodium, etc. I drink a lot of water, but lately I wanted something to replace that glass of wine or beer on weeknights. I am not a soda drinker and haven’t had one in years.

For some, carbonation can worsen acid reflux, if they have that condition. Otherwise I can’t think of a single down-side except price. If someone had told me there would come a time when I’d be spending $15 bucks a week on canned water, I’d have thought they were crazy!
I can... I don't like carbonated water. Which is strange since I used to drink a LOT of soda.

Thanks! It would really be pour a glass of sparkling water in a pretty glass instead of wine or beer. I am trying to trim a few pounds and get a few healthier habits 😊

My dislike of it is it's nothing but fizzy water. No real flavor.

Can't see spending money for that myself when I can slip a fruit slice or couple of cucumber slices into plain water and have something with a hint of flavor.

Useful to a point, I guess, for someone trying to wean self from alcoholic drinks or a soda habit.

YMMV = Your mileage may vary

I don't often have sparkling water, perhaps only when I'm all dried out of l'eau, which originates from the Champagne region.

Buy yourself a Sodastream!

I only drink water but sometimes I want something else so flavored sparkling water is my choice. I don't see any negatives about it unless like ronandannette said about acid reflux.
If you are a cocktail drinker and don't want to drink sugary drinks, sparkling water is a great way to be able to enjoy them without worrying about too many calories or sugar.

I don’t like anything with carbonation. I’d probably just get some flavored water packets or drops to jazz up my filtered tap water.

We love it! Topo Chico and LaCroix. From more of a soda type perspective, we drink Fresca.

Very refreshing as others have stated. Starts to add up expense wise so I also drink a lot of filtered water with lemon or lime.

We call it "fizzy water" in our house, for some reason. I've basically replaced the 55-gallon drums of Diet Coke I used to drink with LaCroix and Bubly.

YMMV, but I've noticed the prices on this stuff have been steady in our local supermarket, while the price of soft drinks seems to be going up pretty steadily.

We drink a lot of it. We like Costco Kirkland Spakling Mineral Water from Italy. Add some fresh lemon juice and it's so refreshing.

As for flavored ones, only Spindrift in this house. The rest are awful and have a fake chemical aftertaste to me.

I guess the con is all the plastic bottles. But at least we recycle those. Allegedly.

We drink a ton of sparkling water. We have an aarke sparkling water maker and use it regularly. We usually have fruit in the house and if we want flavor then we add it.

It can aggravate reflux and it’s more expensive than regular water. Those are all the cons I can think of.

Thanks for all the replies 😊

I love my fizzy water! I make it almost daily with my SodaStream. I haven't figured out how much money it saves me over time, but it's better for the environment. There are no cans or bottles to toss out. I use a mail-in service to get my CO cannisters. I send back the used ones and they ship me new full ones. I rarely used flavoring, but my son likes to add it to his.

I’ve always bought seltzer water. I like it better than regular water. I buy Poland, but also have AHA this week, and whatever else I see that looks interesting and/or is on sale. We grab it for lunches and to sip on in the house. I also like the diet iced tea, especially the Arizona blueberry green tea, and keep that in my hydro flask.

I rather like it when I'm at a self-serve beverage fountain that has soda water.

I strangely enough have some Perrier in 500 ml plastic bottles that was bought in bulk. There was a bit of controversy because it was discovered that they added carbonation rather than relying on 100% natural carbonation present in the water. They apparently separate the CO2 and then add it back for consistency. Sometimes it's CO2 from a different source.
