Looking at the weather for the 10k and 1/2 marathon. For the 10k may be a cold morning {46 degrees}. For the 1/2 marathon showers. Not the best weather. Driving down a day early, because of snow forecast for Wednesday through Virginia. Excitement building......

When my boss talked to me on benefits to relocating from Dallas to Detroit, he swore that winter is mild now compared to years ago… go figure!!

He wasn't lying. This is the first proper winter we've had in years.

This Coloradan should be OK but I am bringing some layers for my costumes just in case. It depends how that humidity makes things feel.

The obsessive weather checking has begun and I am getting nervous. I have no problem with temperatures, if it’s colder than expected I’m ok with that. But I have no desire to run in rain and now it’s showing showers for Sunday. I really hope it changes.

What do people do for their shoes if it’s raining while waiting around? Running a half with wet shoes sounds absolutely miserable.

My shoes actually didn't get noticeably wet in the corrals at the MW half, even though the rest of me was pretty well soaked.

Some will try to cover up with trash bags or things like that. Hmm I might bring plastic grocery bags in my luggage...

For the MW Half, I brought a disposal poncho and created a makeshift tent while sitting on the ground with my legs crossed. It kept everything dry including my feet until the water started pooling into my dry spot and I had to stand up, by that time the rain lightened, and my feet stayed dry.

I have also seen people bring plastic grocery bags and stick their feet in them to protect against the rain.
