My friend and I had an amazing time this morning at the new princess meal at Napa Rose. I'm going to give my most honest review of this meal. We did this as a joint birthday meal. My birthday was last Thursday and my friend’s is in a few weeks. We are both very girly and enjoy princesses. At first we were worried about the price, food, and just the overall experience. But we felt it was worth it.

Checking in

Our reservation was at 9:40. We checked in around 9:25am. They directed us to sit in the lounge area to wait. We got the autograph book, and were offered sparkling wine or cider. There are tic tac toe boards on the tables for kids to play while you wait. While waiting, a musician serenaded everyone with his guitar. He played popular songs from Disney Princess movies (i.e. A Whole New World, Under the Sea, At Last I see the Light). While we were waiting, we also met an Adventure Guide. They help guide your through the breakfast adventure. Also, during this time, we met Rapunzel.

Breakfast

This was the fun part! We met our server right away, and got our drink orders. A few minutes later, we met Tiana! She was so sweet! She told us about her beignets that would be coming on soon. First we got a mini appetizer with monkey bread, and other pastries.

Course 1: Very soon after, our server brought over a 3 tier tower, which was the 1st course. They were all themed to the princesses. I don’t remember all of the names, but I remember Tiana’s beignets, Lobster Roll (Ariel?), Tangled Sandwich (Rapunzel), Magic Carpet Parfait (Jasmine). They were all very delicious. There was another one with banana on it, which I didn’t like at all. I’m not a fan of bananas, but wanted to try it. One bite and I was over it lol. My friend does not eat pork due to religious reasons, so they brought her a side plate with the same items. I think this was done since they weren’t sure if she could eat food that touched pork or not. The only item on the tower with pork was the Tangled Sandwich, so they put avocado on, rather than ham.

Next to our table was a mother and daughter. She told us they were already getting full after the first course.

While eating our first course we met Jasmine! I was very excited because I have never met her in the park. Whenever I would try the line would be very long, or they had already closed the line off.

Course 2: Course 2 consisted of eggs, bacon, chicken and Mickey waffles, fruit, sausage, short ribs, mac and cheese, sliders, and seasoned French fries that they brought to the table. Although originally eating short ribs and mac and cheese in the morning sounded weird, it didn’t phase us much. My favorite was the short ribs. We went back twice for this course. We were stuffed after eating it, and were worried about how we were going to have more room for the 3rd course. The chef who was in charge of this was great! He had no problems answering questions. Wish I had gotten his name!

While eating the second course we met Aurora!

Course 3: Ok, by this time we were STUFFED! Do not underestimate the small portions they give you! The lady that was next to us was right! LOL! They fill you up so much!! I don’t think we touched our sliders or the fries because we wanted to make room for course 3 (dessert). These were also amazing. My favorite was the Mulan fireworks raspberry sorbet. It had cotton candy on top, and poprocks. So it sounded like fireworks in your mouth.

As we wrapped up the breakfast portion, an adventure guide let us know that the adventure would continue outside. So we finished up, paid, got our gift bags, and headed outside. After the breakfast portion, you do not return inside, so you bring your belongings with you.

Adventures outside

We briefly sat outside and waited to read with Belle. There were some refreshments out there as well. We wanted some, but were just too fun for anything.

Stories with Belle: They have small groups read with Belle, once the group before us finished, we got to go. There are chairs, and a little carpet area where kids can sit. After her story, we took pictures with her.

Pocahontas: When we first got outside, and I saw Pocahontas, I was very happy! I’ve never met her at the parks. I’m not even sure if she does meet and greets or roams. She taught us how to say “Wingapo”, and how to row down the river! Out of all of the princesses, I was happiest to meet her!!

Photopass with Ariel: Our last princess we met was Ariel. She had a photopass photographer with her. I am not sure if she will always have photo pass, or if they princess will switch out.

What we loved:

  • Quality time with 7 princesses. The whole thing was over 2 hours long. We didn’t feel rushed, and each princess would hold conversations with you, and interact with you personally. I know you can meet princesses throughout the parks, but I always felt rushed, or would have a hard time meeting them. This was a perfect opportunity to talk 1:1 with them. Also, watching them interact with others, they did an amazing job with the kids and adults that were there.
  • The setting was really nice. It wasn’t crowded or too loud. At the beginning when we checked in and were waiting in the lounge, it felt so cozy and relaxing.
  • They ask about allergy and diet restrictions. Like I mentioned above, my friend does not eat pork. So during the first course, they gave her each of the items on a separate plate so they weren’t touching.
  • The amount of food is amazing! When I saw bloggers posting the other day, the portions looked small, but they did mention they were very full. After today, I am never underestimating small portions food ever again! It’s almost 5 pm and I am still full. The food was very tasty too. So far, this was the best food I have had on the Disney property.
  • Didn’t feel kiddy. Obviously there were a lot of families with children there, but thankfully my friend and I weren’t the only “adult only” parties. We saw quite a few! So it caters to everyone!
Iffy Areas:

  • It took us a while to be seated. Our reservation was at 9:40am, but weren’t seated until a little after 10. We were very hungry, and didn’t eat before since we knew we were having food here. I overheard another mom ask the mom next to us if they were seated on time. So, maybe they are working out some kinks? Today is the first day, so we gave them a little bit of slack.
  • Beware adult-only parties: When we arrived, we saw the stack of autograph books and pens at the computer. The host didn’t offer us one. We asked an adventure guide, and he said they were only for kids, but they would get us each one anyway. This seemed odd to us, as when other adult-only parties came through the door, they had autograph books. So it was weird. If they do not offer one to you, if you ask nicely they may give one to you. Also, the description the meal said you get a gift. When they gave us ours, they only gave us ONE bag with chocolates. We asked our server about this, since we were each paying separately. They said it’s one bag for every 2 people, but would make an exception. So we each got a bag. The same goes with the necklace, they said it was only for kids. I mentioned that on the description of the meal, the gifts seemed as if they would be for each person who paid, so then they let us have a necklace. We felt kind of weird asking, but since we were paying a lot, and were told on the description of the meal we would get something, and then didn’t it, just didn’t sit well with us. We knew if we didn’t at least ask and bring it up, we would regret it. I just didn’t want to be “THAT” guest who asks for things. If you have kids in your party, it should be fine. But for those who are going with other adults, just beware, you may or may not get all the gifts that are offered. Updated info: I learned through the comments that technically the gifts for adults are the complimentary wine at the beginning and chocolates and bag. For kids it's the autograph book, bag and necklace. Going in, we read the initial description of the meal so it made it seem like the $125 would include all of those no matter the age since it doesn't specify.
Was it worth it: For us, it was worth it. We had a great time meeting so many princesses at once, the food was amazing. Despite, the minor hiccups with getting seated and the gifts, we loved everything. I do think this is a great experience for those who want to have a fun “girls day” or “mom and daughter day”. The price is still steep though! I don’t have kids, but I feel like they should at least have a kids price. Also, the reservation gives you 5 hours of validated parking at the Grand Californian valet lot. This is great for people who just want to come for the meal, but not go into the park. But for those who stay onsite or are tourists and don’t need a car, the parking benefit won’t do you any good. We actually parked in Mickey and Friends because my annual pass has parking on it, and we knew we were going to do some shopping in DTD so we needed more than 5 hours.

If you have any questions, just ask :) Hope this helps some people decide if they want to do it or not.

Also, sorry if the picture quality is not the best, I had to do a lot of resizing. Also, not sure why there is an appetizer picture at the bottom lol. It won't let me remove it

Thank you for writing such a detailed review about your Princess Breakfast experience. I have boys and am not into the Princesses at all but I still enjoyed reading about your experience. I had to go get my laptop so I could have a good look at your pictures (there was nothing wrong with the quality of your photos I just wanted to look at a bigger photo than I could see on my phone)
It sounds like you had a great time! The food and setting looks really nice!
I'm sure your review will be a big help to others considering whether they want to do this experience or not!
Cheers : )

What kinda of necklace is it? :)

I really want to do this but it will likely take bribing to get my son to agree!

I think the deciding factor would the souvenirs- every paying person should get them, not just get kids. Or make the adult price less then!

Great review; thank you. My daughter would really love to do this, especially the Pocahontas part. Hoping it’s still offered when we visit next time.

It is silver with a crown. I will try and upload it later! I agree about the souvenirs. I was looking at a few reviews from Thursday's media day, and the souvenir portion was unclear, so that's why we referred to the main DL site about the breakfast description.Part of our interest in this breakfast was because we saw guests get keepsakes.

Wow, this looks SO MUCH better than the old Princess meal at Ariel's Grotto! Thanks for sharing such a detailed review.

It really was amazing! The magic was for sure there! I would even save up money and go again...in many months from now though lol. My friend and I were talking about if they ever did a Christmas themed version of this meal we would go!

I've been curious how it would be as an adult only visit ad it would just be myself. I've never done a princess meal but thought it might be fun and the food looked amazing so I appreciate this.

I don't think its unreasonable to expect or ask for the items included because I was want them too lol. I'm tempted to make a reservation for my birthday trip soon so I appreciate this!

Thanks for the detailed review. I know one of the bloggers who got to go on Wednesday, but it’s different to hear from someone who actually paid.

I’m pretty amused that they wanted you to share the chocolates - like, people are dropping $125 and you’re going to be stingy about the chocolates, Disney? I had actually understood the other souvenirs to be kid-only, so I think you may have gotten lucky on opening day by getting those.

I will be curious to see how successful this concept is going forward.

Oh! I guess we were confused then..going opening weekend I think we went in not fully understanding everything, even after reading up on it.I wonder if over time they switch out the princesses? I'm sure for the first few months it will be the same ones. We were saying in the car that it would be smart if they put Anna and Elsa here when Frozen 2 comes out, and this is the only place to see them. It would probably book up lol.

They are going to need to be more clear about the souvenirs for me to want to go. So it’s 1 gift per 2 people unless you happen to ask for an extra? I don’t like that at all. What if I went with 3 adults? What if you have 3 daughters?

At the Princess tea at WDW’s Grand Floridian they specifically say only children ages 3-9 get keepsakes. I would feel too uncomfortable asking for the gifts, but would feel slighted that everyone else was bold enough to ask for them and got them anyway (social anxiety at its worst). I mean, even if it was a mom and daughter, who wouldn’t want special matching necklaces and an extra autograph book? So unless they figure it out on their end, it’s going to be a hard no from me. But they almost got me with Pocahontas.. almost!

Thank you for this detailed review and the photos! I'm sure they will help lots of people who are trying to make a decision about trying this character meal.

Midnight Star, thank you so much for this review from somelso who paid. Now I want to hear from people who paid and didn't get the gifts and people who paid for a child who only ate half a roll, a bite of sausage, and a cake pop.
My main reaction:
They do not need to be "more clear" about the gifts. They need to be LESS STINGY. As each and every person has to pay $125+tax+tip (which adds up to $35, depending on the gratuity), each and every person *deserves* the gifts. I am baffled, as the gifts, except maybe the choice for a sword and shield, seem designed to be enjoyed by all ages. At the WDW $$$$ tea party, the gifts include a baby doll, so more obviously a child's gift, AND the adult pays less ($234 for child, $98 for adult). A flat rate implies that everyone gets the same thing.
One of the things making me consider this meal was the idea, like a poster above mentioned, that my DD and I would come away with matching necklaces and bags to enjoy as a duo. My DD *loves* that kind of thing.
I was considering adding DH because she is HIS only daughter, too, and he is the person in my family who would most enjoy some of the fancier food offerings. But I also thought yay, one more autograph book for my younger sons, and a sword and shield for my youngest boy. The idea that DH and I are just supposed to eat and be content with that really angers me at this price point.
So good on you for getting your swag!

I'm also laughing as I read another review that likes the Mulan Firecracker dessert best. Why? Because it is the simplest, cheapest, easiest to recreate. In fact, instead of ice cream, I'm planning on making these for DS and her guests at her 5th birthday party in a couple of months!

Thanks again for the information!

I'm not surprised at their stinginess. This is the same place that charged an adult price for my teenage daughter for the WOC dessert party. She obviously doesn't drink the adult beverages, yet they only offered the souvenir cups for something like 12 and under. Made no sense.

The adults get sparkling wine. That’s supposed to be the adult perk.

When I took my daughter to the Nutcracker, we did a “tea” first, and mine was more $ than hers because alcohol. So this is the same concept, but then add an autograph book and a necklace for kids.

I’m not saying I agree or defending it or anything; I’m just pointing out that “alcohol and chocolates for adults,” vs “autograph book and necklace or sword for kids” is the idea.

I just can't get over mac and cheese and sliders for breakfast! This is something we'll probably never do, simply because it doesn't appeal, but I'm glad that it is enjoyable for those who want to do it. That's pretty cool they have 7 princesses meet-and-greeting and other activities outside, though.

That makes loads more sense! So kind of "adult category" presents or "kids category" presents.

Ah got it! We honestly didn’t even think of that! Ok, I’ll put a little side note on there later! So other adult parties know!

@midnight star Thank you for the review and photos!

I think that makes sense to do it as more of an age-cutoff rather than based on what will be consumed, as some adults do not drink alcohol but wouldn't be charged for child prices. The age cut-off is kind of iffy, but at 13/14+ I think is a good age to do adult prices.

Actually, now that I think of it I didn't even realize the WOC dessert party had child prices.

What about adults who don't drink ever or at least not before noon? (This meal is 8am-noon.) I'd gladly skip the alcohol for a necklace to match DD. I sure hope that necklace is worth more than the half-filled flutes of sparkling wine I've seen on bloggers' posts.
