We are headed to Disney Aug 17-26, from a previous trip in July '00 we purchased a portable misting fan that they sell at Disney, the kind you wear around your neck. We still have it and will be using it for our upcoming trip but, we would like to purchase two smaller hand held misting fans. Does anyone know where we can purchase them online or at a chain store. We think it will be cheaper and easier to transport than the Disney version.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

If you are talking about the big ones, they have them at WalMart in the box fan section. They also have the little teeny ones.

We still have our large one from a few summers back, but like you I was thinking that hand held misting fans would be nice. Found a couple at Walmart. The brand is O2Cool I think. They will need to be refilled frequently. We also picked up another large misting fan by the same company. It seems smoother than our older one. DS was going to try to see if the strap from our old one will fit on the new one.

I just bought 2 at Walmart last week. They were $4 each. I found them in the seasonal dept.

Try this link. I didn't buy mine from here though - I got mine at Target but they are not misting fans.

Others have said you can find them in the sporting goods aisles at Walmart

Just so you know, Walmarts in my area, Pittsburgh, are probaly putting them away as we speak so they can get the back to school out and prep for Xmas.

Also if they ran out of their initail shipment they may not get any more. My wife used to work for Walmart and when seasonal stuff sold out that was it they didn't get anymore.

So look now don't wait until before your trip.

Just checked your location, Maine, they may have already put them away and a guess the snow blowers are out. :goodvibes

Thanks for all the comments guys. I am gonna run to Wal Mart today and see if I can pick a couple up. Maybe the snow blowers haven't invaded the seasonal space yet. :rotfl2:

Thanks again! :worship:

I got mine at kmart they were $7.99 each I think disney's are $15.99 & up

I found one that holds a good deal of water and the batteries lasted an entire week at Wal-Mart for $6.99. Mine is pink, but they also had blue, green, yellow and clear.

My local Walmart has two of the O2-Cool misters that are on this thread.

This one does not have a strap, but is more expensive. It's propellers are also a heavy duty plastic material.

The one does have a strap and is cheaper. It's propellers are styrofoam.

Hopefully someone has used both. If you have used both, which one do you prefer and why? I'm leaning towards the cheaper one because it has straps, but unsure about the propellers. The more expensive one's body is protecting the propellers, but there's no place to attach a strap. Thanks in advance.

We used the handheld misting fans a couple weeks ago when we were there. They worked great! I hated carrying around the big fan in the past -- these were much easier. Yes, they're small and don't hold a lot of water, but there are water fountains everywhere to refill them. I used mine almost non-stop all week and I only had to replace the battery once. When we weren't using them, we just clipped them onto our backpack.

I was talking about these on another thread but maybe they will help here...

Recently i saw on QVC..or HSN...something called a snap towel or something like that. You wet it and then snap it to get some of the water off then put it around your neck. It's supposed to keep you cool for hours.

So glad to hear this. Months ago, I bought four of the little keychain ones for my kids. I figured that even if it didn't hold a lot of water that they could always refill with the water fountains. I think I got them for only $3.50/each. I was planning on getting the bigger bottle with the strap to hook to our stroller for the adults to share. I actually looked for more keychain fans tonight, but they were all sold out of that one (have to check the other Walmarts).

these seem awful small- how much water will it hold?

this one- http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?acti...-gps-_-gps-_-O2-COOL Deluxe Water Misting Fan

holds 1,000 mistings. wonder how bulky it will be to carry?

That looks like the one we bought at Walgreens. It is really kind of big but we used it all day and all night while we were in the park. We only filled it a quarter of the way so it wouldn't be so heavy. Even just using the fan to have air blowing helped save the day. We gave my 2 year old niece one to use in the stroller and she loved it. Kept her cool all day.
