POR or AKL

Help us choose a resort! We (DH, DD(7), me!) are planning a 4-night trip to WDW in July to take advantage of the Disney+ promo. We are choosing between AKL (Savannah view room is cheaper than any other category because of this deal $336/night) or POR. This will be a mostly resort trip with lots of pool time. We may do one park day at MK. We have stayed at POR and like it. We haven’t stayed at AKL yet but want to.

For spending a lot of time at the resort AKL seems like the obvious choice. AKL SV room will be about $750 more, which is causing me to go back and forth on the choices.

What do you all think? Is being at AKL for a mostly resort trip worth the extra $750?

We really liked the pools at AKL and AKV, but I'm not sure the AKL savannah rooms are they're worth paying twice as much as a room at POR. That Disney+ offer at POR is pretty sweet. The SSR one is really good, too. That's what we snagged.

That is awesome!! The SSR offer would be the sweet spot for price! It’s such a great deal. At the moment it isn’t available for our dates but I’ll keep refreshing. Maybe it will open up.

We're big AKL fans. Obviously, the money is important. But the AKL experience with the animals, the 2 amazing pools, and the best resort dining options on property (our opinion, of course!) makes staying there very special, especially for kids.... for a mostly-resort stay, we'd definitely recommend AKL savanna view..... there's nothing like it.

AKL is by far the most unique resort and I always tell people to stay there at least once.

I love AKL, but if you're not going to be taking advantage of the things like Extra Evening Hours, I wouldn't spend the money on a Deluxe.

AKL for the win. I love the restaurants, pools, rooms. If you have kids the animals are a big win. They love to see them. Hotel is nice and definitely deserves a visit.

Personally, I don't care for AKL, it's too dark and it just doesn't sit well with me, can't say exactly why. But that is just me. IMHO, I would save the money and go visit AKL and maybe do dinner and a night safari there with the money you save. And it seems so far from just about everything except DAK.

AKL for a resort only stay. You could always change the view to a waterview or resort view. The savannah view is worth it but the animals can be seen through out the resort. Changing the room category will save you some money.

I have not seen a deal like this for a savanna-view room at AKL in eons. I would jump at this. Their pools are wonderful, the resort is gorgeous, and animals right outside your balcony! For half the usual price. Amazing.
